Swelling & Weight Gain Weeks Later.

I was on Omnicef almost 2 and half months ago now for a severe upper respitory infection, they gave me a antibiotic shot then 2 weeks of omnicef. I didn't realize I was having a reaction to it when my ankles, legs, hands, feet started swelling, I finished the whole 2 weeks of it. Thought it was maybe because I was so sick and inactivity. I started gaining weight and my ankles feet, legs, belly hands have continued to swell, I have continued to have loose stools and gain more weight, even though I am the healthiest eater out there. They tried a steroid shot to counteract this, does anyone know if there is anything else out there to stop this? I am very scared is this permanent?

The side effects from an given medication could continue for a few weeks, after you stop taking it. The length of time can vary, depending on what medication was involved, the dosage, and the length of time you were taking it.

However, if the edema continues, you should consult your doctor, because there may be more serious issues going on.

The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and non-allergic skin rash.

No I am not any better and I am being treated by my DR and have been since I posted this, I have a ton of tests done, and everything is coming back normal. This all started at the same time I started the antibiotic, I didn't take a steroid till long after I had completed the antibiotic and that was to see if it would reverse the effects and it did not. I am currently taking 40mg of lassix a day with potassium, and go back for more tests this week. So frustrated.
