Supposed To Dose Every 6 Hours / 4 A Day
UpdatedHow many doses would I be taking if I took them every 5 hours? Because if I started the time at 12am and went a full 24 hours, I'd take a dose at 8pm which is technically the last dose in 24 hours, because the next dose is at 1am which is passed the 24 hour mark; so wouldn't that be 4 in 24 hours? I'm confused here.

If you take a dose every 6 hours, you'd be taking 4 in each 24 hour period, while some doses may overlap the given days, the most important part is to stay on that schedule of every 6 hours. I know it can be confusing, but time is purely a construct of man... so you are always going to have time periods that roll into each other. For example, I am a heart patient, I have one medication that I take every 8 hours, where those 8 hours fall doesn't matter, as long as I take it every 8 hours. If this dose technically falls on a Monday in my time zone and the next on Tuesday, that is actually irrelevant, as long as I am taking them every 8 hours.
As another example, using the dosing schedule that you've given, if you take one every 6 hours, say you started at 12am, which is midnight, you'd take the next one at 6am, the third dose at noon, the fourth at 6pm, then the next midnight dose, IE 12am, would start the 4 doses for the next day. Our time really goes from 12:00am to 11:59pm, then we roll over to the next day, as soon as the clock shows 12:00am, again.
I understand that medications can freak us out and make us all worry about doing something wrong, taking too much, too little, and etc. But math is math, the number of hours in a day doesn't change, nor does the number of doses. I'm not trying to be condescending, or anything, but I have seen many people do this and get confused, so I am just trying to help.
If your doctor has instructed 4 a day, every 6 hours, then stick with that, and according to FDA directives, you will be fine.
I really hope I have helped, if not, please post back to let me know and I will try, again.
What medication has been prescribed?
