Nope, won't work for shingles. If it actually is shingles it won't impact a shingles infection. Shingles is a reemergence of the Chicken pox virus, usually initially acquired in childhood, later in life.

I have a tooth infection. I do not have amoxicillan but was given, by a family member, sulfamethoxazole-tmp. Is this med effective for infected gums/toothache like amoxicillan for infection?

Check with your doc& pharmacist first. This sulfamethoxazole-temp is serious, just look at all the possible side effects if enough water is not accompanied while it is being taken.

I am using this for a real bad skin infection on my leg, along with Clindamycin for 10 days. I've been having mild diarrhea & heartburn.

I was prescribed Septra,the pharmacy gave meSulfamethoxazole-TMP. I had surgery for a trigger finger, it's the middle finger which I guess is the reason they made the incision close to the middle of my palm. It was infected when I went in for post op visit. The dr. said keep a Band-Aid on it, that's the only treatment. I went back to get the sutures out, the nurses couldn't get them so the dr.did. As it healed I see a suture was left in. Now it's infected again(or still). Will this medicine cure it?

I had TURP surgery one month ago. I was prescribed Sulfamethoxazole TMP taken twice daily. I've am experiencing gastointestional stomach bubbling and quesiness for about 3 weeks. I understand this medication is commonly used for UTI. I had a UTI disorder in March and was hospitalized. Could this medication be causing my problem.

i was discharged with TB in May 2014 to my suprice few days ago they told me its back so im on treatment again i was given a pack of 56 pills ilvitrim i dont understand why they gave me because i didnt take them with my first treatment & there was no explanation

I am taking this antibiotic, I had a blood infection along with kidney failure blood work shows there is some infection still in body so my doctor wants me to take this antibiotic for a year. i feel un easy since i had a allergic reaction to vaincomyoson 3 months ago and got the red man syndrome. now I'm afraid of antibiotics

Can sulfamethoxazole-tmp be used for a gum infection or toothache? I have a bad toothache and this is the only medication here that says it's used for several types of infections.
