can using Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds Tablet cause a black tongue? I can't find this as side effect for this medication online

Yes, it could happen when you are taking this, or any other antibiotic. The black tongue is usually just caused by a yeast fungus overgrowth, so it's just like getting oral thrush from the antibiotic, this is just a bit of a different form.

Is your tongue also sore, or is just the discoloration?

If it's just black, then that often doesn't even require treatment, you just need to engage in some serious good oral hygiene for awhile.

I started this medication and almost immediately began feeling a really bad yeast infection (i.e. vaginal burning/itching). I also have extreme oral sensitivity including white sores forming on/under my tongue and on the inside of my lower lip, as well as oral thrush . . . is this many severe side effects common for this medication. Not sure the cure is worth the pain at this point??
