Sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 Tabs And Headaches
(Newest replies first)
Updated
Started taking this on Friday at 8 pm. Woke up on Saturday with a horrible headache and red eyes. Took it again Saturday at 8am and again at 8pm. Woke up Sunday without headache although it still hurts when I cough. Still took meds at 8am. Is this normal or should I discontinue?

Same here I had headache second day and high fever 102. Hives and red eyes pains in my legs. Terrible
I have the same symptoms from that same medication. Did you quit taking it?
Head only hurts when I cough now, my eyes are still red and burn. My co-worker says I look swollen. I feel flash fevers and my eye sight is a bit blurry. Other than that, I am feeling fine. Thank you for asking. Called my Dr. and am waiting for them to call me back.
This is a sulfa antibiotic, so I am really not sure if anything is abnormal or unexpected.
To be completely honest, what you're experiencing doesn't sound dangerous and may not be sufficient reason to stop taking it, but this is a very nasty antibiotic that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I really think it should be reserved as a last resort, when other options haven't worked.

The final decision on whether or not you continue taking it is really up to you and I am not a doctor, I can only provide you with information on it.
But I had a nasty experience with this antibiotic myself and if you search this site you'll find many, many other people that have posted on here asking questions, because they've had problems with it, too.
So, from someone with knowledge of medications and the reactions they can cause, plus my own personal experience, what I can tell you is that once some type of reaction starts with this medication, it usually just gets worse. There are some cases where this doesn't happen, but in the larger percentage of people, it's a downhill spiral.
Thus, the best suggestion I can make is that you keep monitoring yourself, if the headache or fever gets worse, if you develop any other unusual symptoms, then contact your doctor immediately.
If you start to get itchy and see a skin rash, stop taking it and pick up the phone.
How are you doing now?
I also have a slight fever.
