Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is an antibiotic and can be used to treat various types of infections, including dental abscesses.

Has your dentist instructed you to use it? Only asking because it would be vital that you take a full-coarse of this medication in order to get rid of the infection indefinitely. Otherwise it can come back and become even more resistant to the medication.

NOTE: Clove oil is another excellent option as backup for pain relief and killing off the infection.
