Sulfameth Trimethoprim Maximum Dosage

Can Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800 /160 be safely perscribed for up to 42 days for prostate infections when Ciprofloxacin was failed to help. I have been on Sulfameth Trimethoprim for 28 days. It has really helped but I still have some symptoms of penis burning and perineum aching. I have been given a perscription to continue. I hesitate to continue another 14 day perscription but have had a complete sholder replacement two years ago and fear getting it infected.

When it comes to antibiotics, the duration of treatment can vary, depending on the severity of the infection and, from what your describing, it does sound like you had a pretty bad one.

In such cases, it is really wisest to follow your doctor's instructions, as they have the knowledge and experience to know which medication is most effective to treat what you're dealing with and how long it may need to be taken.

If you don't continue the medication and the infection isn't completely cleared up, then you could end up with much worse medical problems.
