Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800 160 Tabs 2x

I've been taking this drug 2x a day, since 6/1/2011. It was prescribed to treat an infection,of the prostate or lower organ, not sure.
Since starting on med, I initially realized a change in how I felt. Glands in my neck shoulders and,up through my head felt sore. I felt giddy or antsy! My fist night on taking drug, I felt uneasy and,only slept a few hours! Next, I felt chills and then started experiencing serious intermitent acheing pain, mostly in my left arm and deltoid muscle shoulder! Since starting on the med, I've had episodes of heavy sleep, chills, waking up in the morning bed clothes soaked, T-shirt and pillow from a fever or chills!I've got about another few days of pills before I use them up!
My history is heart problems. Heat attack diagnosed at age 32. Right cornary artery clotted from heart spasm! I've had nerves ablated in heart and valve repair! I also take the meds; attenolo, furesomide, cymbalta, lyrica,quinapril,asprin regimen 325 a day, prilosec otc daily. I'm in my mid 60's!
Well, am I nuts?

YOu are not the first person we've had that has reported these types of issues with this antibiotic, they are not common, but can happen, as side effects.

Have you contacted your doctor, yet?

Any time you are experiencing odd symptoms, such as what you described, especially since you are a heart patient, you should contact your doctor immediately. There are other antibiotics that can be used.

My nine year old grandson was prescribed Bactrim DS for cellulitis. After four days he started to throw up, run fever, complained of pain to his right shoulder and when his fever went to 104 degrees he had to be hospitalized. His blood work revealed a low white blood cell count and a high potassium level. The Bactrim was stopped before he was hospitalized. As a nurse I felt like it was a reaction to the medication but as of yet we have no diagnosis. He is fine with no further problems.
