Subutex (buprenorphine) Script & Mail Order Pharmacy?
UpdatedI am prescribed two 8mg buprenorphine (subutex) tablets per day as I am deathly allergic to Naloxone in the combination medications like Suboxone and Bunavail. I have, at times had trouble getting my prescription filled locally. Sometimes the pharmacy I use regularly doesn't have them all, especially when I get a full month script, and of course, I find myself running back and forth to and from the pharmacy to pick up small pieces of my prescription. I left a daily dosing program to attend a once monthly clinic because I could not afford the trips back and forth. At times, I have to run to the pharmacy 3-4 times per week and it's approximately 70 miles round-trip from my home to the pharmacy, and on top of that, the clinic I go to is now enforcing once per week counseling so that's another trip to be made. I do have Medicare which covers the cost of my medication minus a small copay of $1.20. I am wondering if it is a possibility to order my medication through a mail order pharmacy so I can be sure I will receive my medication when it is due and not be running back and forth trying to obtain it? I do not think my doctor would have a problem with me using a mail order pharmacy if it means an easier, more economical method of obtaining my prescription. She does care and she does understand what living on a fixed income is, yes, I got lucky and found one of the good drs out there. Has anyone ever had experience with getting buprenorphine through a mail order pharmacy? Can it even be done? If so, what do I need to do to get started receiving my medication through the mail order pharmacy, etc? Any help is greatly appreciated very much.

Hey Richie! I actually did find one mail order pharmacy that does it if you get your script monthly. It is called CareZone and they do have an app available for download where you can upload copies of your ID, insurance cards, prescription label and order your medicine directly through the app. I will be trying it out for the first time next month and I will let everyone know how it works out for me.
Awesome thanks so much let me know how it works i think its crazy they say get off opiates then say what and how you can get the very things that get you off them
You're welcome. I agree. I've at times had trouble getting them. It seems the bigger chain pharmacies like Walmart, Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens, generally keep a good amount of them on hand all the time or can typically get them in stock the very next day for you if you ask so that may be useful information for you in the meantime. I usually get either the Roxane 54 411 tablets from Walmart or the Mylan M 924 tablets from a small pharmacy locally but for the past month I have not been able to get either of those and the ones they are replacing them with, either the Hi Tech small 8 Arrow ones or the Actavis Orange Half Moon oblong ones, seem to just NOT deliver the same dose of medication and I have been up and down with these 2 generics. One day I feel sick like I am experiencing withdraws and the next I feel perfectly fine. Like today, after my dose of 2 8mg tablets from Hi Tech, I'm lethargic, runny nose, watery eyes, achy, a little grouchy and just overall not feeling up to par but yesterday I felt great and who knows what tomorrow may hold. I'd like to find a pharmacy (I am hoping CareZone is the one) that will consistently carry and deliver the same brand and it's one of the brands that seem to work best for me. I have spoken with staff at CareZone on a couple different occasions and they all seem very nice, well informed, educated, compassionate and understanding and they seem like they are a pharmacy that will do it's very best to accommodate your needs and work with you. I hope everything ends up working out. I did send them an email inquiring about their brands of the Buprenorphine and whether or not they always have the brands in stock, they may or may not be able to give me that information so we will see. If they do let me know, I will share the information here as well.
Re: Richie (# 1)
I know Express scripts WILL NOT mail order any type of controlled drugs
