How long does it take to get off subsys, I have been on this for over 15 years for chronic nerve damage. What are the withdrawals and what other pain relief is instead of this.

Hello, Jean! How are you?

The FDA lists Subsys as containing Fentanyl, which is the most potent opiate available, thus after that long of a time period, you'll need to do a very slow taper. Your doctor should be able to help you set up a proper tapering schedule.

However, since there is nothing else close to it available, I am not sure what else you may be able to use for pain relief. What dosage of it have you been on?

The possible withdrawals may include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, diarrhea, depression and rebound pain.
