I became highly allergic to sulfa drugs after being hospitalized for cellitus in my hand they pump me full of bactrim and I turned beat red and could barely breath...I was having weird tingling in my feet like when something falls asleep..hard to breath..doctor came in and said avoid sulfa drugs. My insurance refuses to pay for white subs and the orange get ones make me sick, rash on my neck...light headed...so the main drug in suboxone is acesulfame....an atrifificle sweetner.. ## Hello Jen! How are you? I am sorry about the experiences you've had with these medications. Acesulfame is not the main drug in Suboxone, as an artificial sweetener, it is considered an inactive ingredient. The active ingredients in Suboxone are Buprenorphine, and Naloxone. It is an opiate that is used to ...

Im in an addiction treatment program and I'm taking two 8/2 mg strips a day. I've been a slave to opiates for approximately 25 years. I've reached the point of being fed up with being dependent on pain pills to function. my addiction dr suggested trying to find a pain management dr who would treat my chronic pain with suboxone. It does alleviate my pain ...or might I say ..makes me functional and the pain tolerable. is this an actual option? I've done research on this and have gotten mixed reviews on the subject. I trust this site and follow it daily so I'm asking for some information and suggestions. I function better on suboxone than on oxycodone dilaudid or morphine (I've been prescribed them all plus some others) give me some feedback. What should I do or is ...

I take 12mg of suboxone a day and it keeps me level headed and happy for the most part. It’s saved my life, but it doesn’t completely ameliorate my urges to use. Sometimes I wonder if Methadone would work better. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Methadone. Has anybody out there switched from suboxone to Methadone? ## Most people usually end up switching the other way, they go from Methadone to Suboxone, since it has been known to enable people to eventually become drug free, while Methadone is highly addictive, and know to be hard to ever taper off it, so most people must take a lifelong maintenance dose of it. (Suboxone NDC 12496-1212, Methadone NDC 0054-4571.) Have you spoken to your prescriber? You should be able to go up on your Suboxone, for awhile, to help w...

I've been taking Suboxones for the last year and my doctor has been bringing me down every visit. Once a month I'm at .5 a strip except I can't get down that low. I'm out now and feel like garbage on day 3. If I am going to go through it now I'm wondering what will help to do it? ## Hello, Tausha! How are you feeling? I know opiate withdrawals can be terrible. According to FDA reports you may experience nausea, diarrhea, rebound pain, muscle cramps, headaches, and insomnia. Ref: Medline Plus Opiate Withdrawals It is normal for a doctor to eventually taper a patient off of Suboxone. Has your doctor suggested anything to help? When I came off of high doses of opiates from being on pain management, it was pretty miserable. I took Tylenol for the aches, and pains, and of...

I'm on day 15 of no Suboxone. I took a low dose of 1/2 mg a day, if needed, for 18 mos. I never took more than that at any time. I jumped & didn't taper b/c I felt w/d at 1/4 mg anyway. It's not getting any better & I'm beginning to wonder if things will ever swing upward. My RLS is pathetic. It's even in my arms & I feel like flailing my hands, as if it'll escape out my fingers. I can't stand for it to be quiet & I'm so nervous every single second of the day. I can't relax, let alone sleep. However, I'm fortunate to have access to Neurontin & my dentist husband gave me an Rx for Tramadol today. (Hard to imagine this would actually be worse if I didn't have these.) I'm eating well, keeping myself hydrated, using Benadry...

Will taking a few hydrocodone, during withdraw from suboxone, prolong the time it will take to get over the suboxone? ## Hello, Pat! How are you? The Hydrocodone will not have any effect, since the Naloxone in the Suboxone blocks it and the Buprenorphine is what will have the stronger grip on your opiate receptors. You have to be off of Suboxone for several days, before you can take anything else. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are you following your doctor's taper schedule? ## I've taken some sub's for like 4 days.. Usually a 8 a day..I get my Vic's Wednesday.. I started today.Sunday.no suboxone.. So will...

Okay guys, I need some feedback and fast. I am only 25 and I have severe TMJ I live in Mobile, AL and because my condition is so severe I have to go to Birmingham (5 hours away) to see a doctor that is qualified to handle it. Because of Alabama Drug laws. A doctor in a different city has to have seen you to prescribe you Narcotic pain medication. I was going to Birmingham about once every 2-3 weeks to get my prescriptions filled but that was getting costly so my doctor referred me to a Pain Management Specialist here. Without even looking at my MRIs or surgery history he put me on Suboxone, and told me it was a strong pain medication. I took it for about 3 weeks then went to see my Oral surgeon in Birm. He was furious he told me that Suboxone was for people with a dependancy problem and...

Need subutex or suboxone Dr. Near cookeville, tn. I have tenncare. I cannot see Roy Anderson. Thanks ## Hello, Scott! How are you? You can search for a doctor in you area via the website Suboxone.com click here. However, you'll need to contact them to see if they're accepting new patients and what insurances they accept. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more Suboxone details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I know one in Nashville near Old hickory Blvd. and Edmonson Pike. Don,t know if you can travel that far. He,s a private sub dr. Its not a clinic. He does not take insurance. Its 300.00 for first visit then 150.00 once a ...

I broke my leg 2 years ago and now have a heel spur, arthritis on the top of my foot and a pinched nerve aka CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome) in my ankle. I am hopefully getting a spinal cord stimulator surgically installed in a couple months. I truly don't know how much longer I can handle the pain. I take 16mg of Suboxone everyday, I want to ask my doctor if he can switch me to a strong opiate for the next couple months and then switch back to Suboxone but wean off in a week instead of long term maintenance. I know Suboxone helps with pain but surely an opiate will be stronger? ## Yeah it definitely would, I don’t think you can easily make the switch though. I know that when I withdrew from regular pain medication withdrawal was over in a few days, I mean it took a full...

I have had a couple of bad colds and the flu over the last 6 months. I took NyQuil b cause it's a multi symptom cold and flu reliever. What a surprise when I took it with the suboxone, it helped me better with the pain I expierence. I suffer from multiple medical problems and had many surgeries. Now, I'm not saying 2 go and do this 4 nothing, but, it has really helped me. ( maybe, b cause of the liquid acetaminophen in it. Has anyone else done this or noticed it? ## To the OP and anyone reading this thread - it is technically not safe to take suboxone with nyquil because the buprenorphine interacts with multiple ingredients found in it. You may experience increased dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, or worse yet, a rare but serious condition called serotonin syndrome [1]. Definit...

Maybe im crazy but i don't like the strips, i just don't feel they work as well as the pills. I never ran short with the pills, but the strips i seem to take more. Anyone else feel this way? My dr said she'll only prescribe the strips and it's all in my head. ## Hello, Terisita! How are you? You're not the only one that has said this, it just seems that different formulations work better for different people. However, if you stuck with the strips at the amount you're supposed to take, then your body would likely adjust after a week or so. The only other suggestion I can make if you're not happy is that you try to find a different doctor. Does anyone else have any suggestions? ## Hi, I,m the other way around. I like the strips better then the pills I agree wit...

Is there any chronic pain patients from Kentucky or Ohio that are finding themselves with no treatment and no where to turn for help? I am an advocate for pain patients and patients have contacted me saying how they had just moved to one state or the other and called many doctor offices to only be rejected because they are chronic pain patients already. The doctors offices say they are not accepting new patients or that the office does not treat pain. Can you imagine someone with cancer that has called 258 Dr offices and have been turned away because they take opiate medicine for pain? I was just wondering about how many patients were living in these states with no care or are left to with draw in severe pain with no dignity? Please share your experiences if you can. I feel there can be...

Can somebody please tell me if hair loss is a symptom of buprenorphine-naloxone 8-2mg? It's also known as Suboxone. I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss & dryness. If so, can somebody suggest something else? Thanks so much. ## Does Suboxone (Buprenorphine + Naloxone) or any of its derivatives cause hair loss & drying of hair? ## Yes, it has been known to cause alopecia as a side effect, in some people that take it, but it is not common. Suboxone may also cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. As to an alternative, that depends on the reason you are taking it. Can you please post back and specify? Thank you! ## Yes Zubsolv causes hair loss. I have lost almost half my hair. Took Zubsolv for 3 months, had a 2 month gap and...

I am on suboxene to get off medications for back injury. The doctor I'm going to charges $200.00 per visit plus the cost of the medications. Does anyone know if doctor's accept Medicare for the office visits? ## It actually depends on the laws of your state, some states have Medicare programs that cover it, some don't. Have you tried checking to see if the coverage is there? If they do, they may also direct you to doctor's that accept it. ## I've been trying to find out if doctors in Ohio, zip code 44471 take Medicare. I truly cannot afford the $200 doctor fee, plus the cost of meds. Having so much trouble with this. I am going to get my cdl class a licenses... Will suboxone I took two weeks ago show up in my screening? They send it to a lab ## The information I have from someone who is prescribed them and from his doctor, is that it does not show up as an opiate on any test, period. Also, it has to be tested for specifically, so unless they by chance add suboxone to their panel test then it will not show up. The most reliable information I have is that it is a completely separate drug test than 5 or 10 panel, and it costs a lot of money. This might sound funny but I also hear from good sources that they only test you for suboxone to ensure it is in your body (in other words: you are receiving it from a treatment clinic and they need to ensure you're taking it). I'm sorry I can't just sa...

How long does it take for 4mg of suboxone to be completely out of your system? ## Hi Steve, Based on my research, if you took just one, then it should be out of your system within about 48 to 72 hours. If you have been taking it regularly, it could take longer. My suggestion is to drink lots of fluids and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to help flush it out of your system faster. Are you hoping to get Suboxone out of your system by any specific time? ## i took 2 mg sub film monday and 2 mg film on tuesday. how likely will it be out of my system by thursday? thanks. ## you guys are fabulous! thanks muchly for the help! ## Took about 4mg strip on monday. My doctor wants me to try a long acting pain med amd Sabaxone was the choice. I tried the patch and was allergic to the adhesive, so we went for the lowest, sublingual dose, for pain. I have stomach issues, so we are bypassing that. After taking my first dose, I passed out on the couch, literally and woke up and didn't know what happened or how long I had been out. I was super sweaty and very tired. The next morning, 12 hours later, I took my next dose, but cut it in 1/2. Same thing. I woke up in bed and didn't know how long I had been out. I was super sweaty and shaky. Confused. Yuck feeling. I haven't taken it since and called my pain doctor and told her. She hasn't gotten back to me. Would what happened be a. Allergic reaction? I am super sensitive to sulph's too....
