Stopping Xarelto For Surgery (Top voted first)
UpdatedStarted Xarelto a year ago after blood clots after breast cancer surgery. Having surgery again in a week and was taken off xarelto until after surgery. I am now scared to be off this drug. Do I need to be scared of new clots even before surgery?

Hi there,
I've been on Xarelto for three years after having a stroke while in AFIB. Whenever I have a surgery (colonoscopy and total knee replacement) my doctor either puts me on an injectable two days prior or just stop taking it a day before the procedure. By all means speak to your doctor and express your concerns.
How many days before dental surgery should I stop taking Xarelto 20 mg and how soon should I start again?
