I’ve been on 8mg candersartan for a month , at lowered my blood pressure quite quickly , but now it’s been a month I just checked it on someone’s machine and it was too low ,116/59, I have not had any alcohol for a month also so that was causing my high blood pressure and I’ve lost half a stone as was 3 stone too heavy , so maybe the life style change would of lowered it anyway and the pills maybe have made it too low which I’ve heard is dangerous, I’m getting a new machine tonight so if it’s very low on that , can I stop the pills , obviously see a doctor but that can be hard to get an appointment

It would be best not to stop the medication without your doctor's approval. There is a chance that it could be the only thing that is successfully lowering your blood pressure. Your numbers weren't dangerous low, unless you were having symptoms, such as dizziness, nausea, and fainting. According to NIH studies, I've also been there myself, since I am a cardiology and high blood pressure patient. I've had a lot of adventures over the past 7 years, I really can't describe it any other way. As to the alcohol, it usually lowers it, unless you drink excessive amounts.

What was the initial reading that caused your doctor to prescribe this medication?

Have you received your machine, yet?

Blood pressure always fluctuates, so you have to look at readings over time, not just one that you took on a friend's machine just once.

If you stop abruptly, the NIH also warns that it could cause dangerous rebound effects, which could result in elevated blood pressure, and elevated heart rate.
