Stopping Bystolic 5mg. Abruptly

I have been on Bystolic 5 mg for 8 yrs. I had to stop abruptly 1 day ago because I have none left. I've been laid off and as a result cannot afford a dr.'s appt. to get an Rx called in. What can I expect to happen? I am drinking quite a bit of dandelion leaf tea to help with water retention since unlike Lasix, which i was also prescribed, it does not deplete potassium.

Hello, Ziv! How are you?

The biggest danger is that suddenly stopping it could cause a rebound effect, which may cause your heart rate and blood pressure to become dangerously elevated, according to the NIH.

Seeing your doctor would be best, but if you cannot do so, you should make sure to monitor your blood pressure and heart rate regularly, so you can seek emergency medical attention, if the numbers get out of hand.

Is there anything else I can help with?
