I quit smoking last night, and went to the doctor today and was prescribed chantix. Has anybody tried this way before? I dont want to start smoking just because I am supposed to work my way in to it as I would feel like I would be going backwards. Any advice? ## Help, Yua! How are you? Congratulations on the choice you've made to get healthy. Quitting isn't easy. And no, there's no need to pick them up, again, just to use the Chantix. It should provide the same support as it would, if you were still smoking. But it could help get rid of the cravings and prevent the urge to pick them back up. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, insomnia, lucid dreaming and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Instructions said you could keep smoking so I did and kept waiting for that bolt of lightning. In two I doubled up to bout 2 packs day, gave up the pill, and quit trying to quit. Those cigis were much then and eventually I got to three packs. Early 2013 I cold turkey quit. Chantix didn't win any points. ## Hello, Woodyj! How are you? You can for awhile, but you are supposed to set a quit date, many times after a week of being on it. Hello, Is there some kind of drink out there that one can take that has hepatist. I have hapatist and keep on failing the drug test, i know the best thing is to stop smoking marijuana period. Trying to get a job. Any help will be so much appreciated. Thank you.

I've used it for 12 days. Within 4 days I developed what I thought was bronchitis, nothing relieved the cough. Today I'm totally bouncing off the walls, weird bizarre thoughts, such as it's not ok to get my feet dirty, and to put straight pins in the wall by the fire place. Along with I can't stop talking then I cry because these behaviors are not me. The good thing.... I've quit smoking but the cost is high. Think twice before using this drug and make sure your in the company of people who are fully aware and able to help if it's necessary.

It has been nearly 3 years since I quit smoking and with only minor urges that last only a few seconds, It was the easiest thing I have ever accomplished. My boyfriend of 2 years started took Chantix for 6 weeks but has been off it for 2 weeks now. I asked him to quit because in that 6 weeks he slowly became detached and cold towards me and it turned into almost hatred. He wants to leave our beautiful horse farm to go live in an apartment. We had an amazing relationship and wrete planning on marriage soon until Chantix got in his system. I have over a 100 almost exact stories like mine from the effects of Chantix. I have been taking Chantix for about a month now and decided tonight that I must stop. From day one I have been nauseated and increasingly depressed. I have a history of depression and anxiety - I have also began to notice that when I eat a lot of sugar, I get a rush of energy and then within an hour or so I feel terrible. Is it okay to just stop this medication and how long will it take to be out of my system? ## Hello, Pinky! How are you doing? It may take a week or two, before you start to feel back to normal. However, that reaction to eating a lot of sugar is normal and may continue. It's just not good for our bodies to overdo it. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been diagnosed with severe depression in the past. Stopped taking antidepressants a year ago (decided to fight the depression myself!). Have been taking chantix for 2 weeks now, have stopped smoking 4 days ago. I can't say i don't get any cravings at all, but they are getting weaker each day. I don't feel depressed, quite the opposite - my mood is good and stable. I've had some side effects for the first week, but as soon as I've stopped smoking they've disappeared. I had took Chantix about 3 months ago and successfully was able to quit. So many people I've suggested it to have all of these excuses why they can't stop smoking or are worried about the side effects of others. I had absolutely no side effects I felt like throwing up 3 or 4 times for maybe a second but then it passed. I had virtually no side effects this is an amazing product. Is there anything that has proven successful for anyone else to relieve stomach pain? I have tried beano, pepto, tylenol/advil. Ive taken the meds with food, without food. One year ago I started Chantix. In my third week I had my first seizure; last week I had my sixth episode of "ALTERED MENTAL STATUS". What's scary is, now I losing my memory. Besides the fact that my brain vibrates all the time I just don't feel solid anymore. If I could do anything to keep anyone from taking this drug I would. Today is the day I've chosen to quit.. cigs have already tasted awful. Side effects are minimal (little nausea if i don't eat and tired) Have had some vivid dreams but they have been interesting, so no problem there. I so want to quit, its a disgusting habit that will kill us all. I've tried other ways with no success. Giving it my all to be a proud quitter! I am on day 2 of chantix and I was wondering when will it really start to work? This may sound crazy but I felt different on day 1. But I wanted to know when did it really kick in for all of you? I say day 1 was different for me due to the fact that I normally smoke a pack a day, and that day I smoked 1/2 the pack. I started Chantix a week ago and still have the same urge to smoke the same amount and it doesn't taste different or anything. I am under an extreme amount of stress which makes me crave my nicotine so could that be causing the Chantix not to work? Ive taken Chantix before and within a few days cigarettes started tasting funny to me and within like a week and a half I was done and I quit for almost a year. I have been on Chantix 3 weeks now and it has done absolutely nothing for my desire to quit smoking. I feel like I took $450.00 and threw it away in the garbage can. I am having dreams and feeling nauseous at times. The morning dose usually makes me vomit but just a little. I have breast cancer and was asked by my doctor to be in a study currently going on in the US for cancer patients who smoke and want to quit. It's a 1 year double blind study that involves counseling and either 12 weeks of Chantix or 24 depending on which group you are randomized to. I am being followed by a doctor and psychiatrist and have to check in every 2 weeks for counseling. I am very concerned about all the negative feedback regarding this drug. I don't think doctors are interviewing their patients properly before prescribing this drug. I was told if I had a history of depression or mental illness I could not take this medicine.
