Started Loestrin 21 To Delay My Period For A Vacation Next Month

I'm going on vacation on the 19th of Feb. I haven't taken birth control in a few years and before I use to take Lorestrin 24. My February period was exspected to start the day I left for vacation, so my OB suggested i started on Lorestrin 21 on the first day of my January cycle in hope to start by Febraury period the week before my vacation, shorten the period or possible delay it all together. I started my period yesterday, 1/22 and i took my 1st pill at 9:30PM. Im very worried aboout my body not responding well to this pill and the plan not working cousing me to be on my period for vacation next month. Since i've only taken 1 pill so far, is it safer to not continue at all and look into another option, or keep going as planned and if I have a period, is it safe to take Norethisterone with my birth control to stop the period. I'm getting married and cannot be on my period when we leave on vacation. After reading all the reviews about constent breakthrough bleeding the first 1-2 months, I'm worried this could be the wrong choice. Please send back feedback ASAP!

Regardless of what option you try, be it this one or the Norethisterone, the risk is still there of your having your period while on vacation and/or experiencing breakthrough bleeding. There is no guaranteed way to make sure that you don't get it.

These oral contraceptives are the most reliable way to do it, though.

The FDA lists their typical side effects as also possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS like symptoms.

There are a lot of myths out there, but you should be aware that you can engage in intercourse while on your period. It is perfectly safe to do so, it may just be messy.

Alternatively, you could buy the Instead Softcups, they offer period protection while allowing you to engage in intercourse, without it being messy.
