Stadol Prescription
UpdatedAre there any doctors in East Texas that aren't afraid to prescribe Stadol NS 3-4 bottles per month for Migraine rescue therapy. Many cite rebound. I've never had a problem with that. Other's say they are limited by the new laws, however I've learned this is not true. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am getting Botox treatments to reduce the number of headaches, and am on Imitrex (which works if I catch the migraine early enough), and Topomax.

No, there are new regulations that restrict what general practitioners and surgeons can prescribe, why they can prescribe it, how long they can prescribe it and how much they can prescribe.
And the limits on how much they can prescribe also apply to pain management specialists and other specialists, they can only prescribe the maximum recommended daily dosage and no more. Exceptions can only be made for people with intractable pain from potentially terminal conditions, such as cancer.
The local doctor's offices and ERs here have placards posted to inform everyone of the changes.
This is a synthetic opiate analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
What else have you tried for your migraines?
broke my wrist yesterday....please excuse any typos.
acupuncture, biofeedback, neurontin, various blood pressure meds and calcium channel blockers, several of the triptans (they work if i catch the migraine early enough), phsical therapy, specialized diet, exercise, nany other narcotics, but was so out of it or had rebounds, don't want that. herbal remedies. neurotomies in my back & neck.
Thanks for your reply.
What is the recommended dosage on the stadol nasal spray per month? I live in Oklahoma could regulations be different? My primary care doctor is prescribing 4 per month until i can be seen by a headache clinic. You mentioned there are new restrictions on what doctors can perscribe. Where can i find this information?
Reason I am asking is because the CVS pharmacy had to talk to my doctor personally on why I was getting 1 bottle per week (7 days). Now that pharmacist has left and I was told I could not get that prescription there anymore. My insurance will pay for 1 bottle every 4 days, which is excessive but 4 per month, why are they having such an issue about this?
