After childbirth my doctor put me on sprintec 28 pack. I started on a sunday. I have two blue pills left and 7 white ones. My period start today. I call my doctor and he told me to finish the whole 7 white pills before starting a new pack. I'm confused because i thought that the white pills have no active medicine so im wondering am i going to be protected during that week and not get pregnant or should i not have sex during that week. I have been taking sprintec for three years, and mono linyah for one month and then quit it all. Now my period is late for three weeks. According to the home pregnancy test I am not pregnant. Is that a side effect of taking birth control for a long time for the period to be late? ## To my understanding, Sprintec (and most oral contraceptives for that matter) can cause irregular and/or missed periods as a general side effect; due to fluctuations in your hormone levels. So I don't think it's anything to be overly concerned about. Especially if you recently stopped taking it in an abrupt manner after 3 years. My Dr. prescribed tri sprintec and told me to start taking the placebo on the first day of my period this month. I have been taking Sprintec for a year now, and I was late scheduling my yearly check-up and there for cannot get anymore pills until I meet when my doctor several days from now. I was wondering how long it takes for the birth control to fully leave the system, and if I should stop having unprotected sex?

So I am going home next this friday through sunday but I am supposed to be on my period that weekend. I would like to not have this problem seeing as I am in a long distance relationship and barely get to see my boyfriend. I only have one blue pill left so I was wondering if I could just skip it and let myself have a period? Mine usually only three days. Ive been on Sprintec for over a year. I am still on the blue pills but last Friday (9 days ago) I started bleeding. I didnt have the symptoms of what usually happens with my period. I started sprintec in October and my obgyn told me that as it regulates my period it should make it so that I shouldn't have my period on the weekends. How true is that for other people? Like for example my last period ended on Saturday but eventually I think it's supposed to end on Friday. Does it actually do this? Any stories? Thanks! ## I'm sorry, I am not sure why your doctor told you that, because there is no way to guarantee that will happen. There is a chance that taking an oral contraceptive will make your menstrual cycle lighter and shorter, but that's not something that happens to everyone that takes it and there's no way to make sure that's how it works for you. I started taking Tri-Sprintec about 3 months ago. After the 3rd month I wasn't able to get to the pharmacy for almost a week or a week and a half in between packets so when I started the new packet it was very late in my cycle. Now I'm about to start the 3rd week of pills and this is the time I regularly have my period. I am currently taking Tri-Sprintec. I started my first round this past Tuesday. Today, a week and day later I started my period. My physiccian said it was fine to start the doese before the Sunday and 1st day rule. My question is now that I'm on my period do I keep taking the blue pills (I have 13 left) Or do I start taking the white pills? Hi, I'm on my second pack of sprintec now and I had a couple periods during my first pack. So now I'm halfway through the second week of the second pack and haven't had my period yet. I've had sex but its always been protected. Been on Sprintec for 2 weeks. Started having irregular heart beats. Dr said to stop taking them. Now I am having to have a series of tests on my heart. ## Have they also checked your blood pressure? Since starting Tri-Sprintec, I have been taking the pill everyday close to the scheduled time. I've had no adverse reactions and my period as normal. Earlier this week, I had realized I missed a pill when I went to bed so I took it as soon as I woke up then took my regular pill as scheduled. Because I'm in the fire dept, I can't guarantee taking the pill everyday at the same time.
