My period start today. I call my doctor and he told me to finish the whole 7 white pills before starting a new pack. I'm confused because i thought that the white pills have no active medicine so im wondering am i going to be protected during that week and not get pregnant or should i not have sex during that week. Should i start a new pack after my period is done. Omg i dont know what to do. Someone please help ## Hi, Rubi! Sorry about the confusion. Normally, you should just finish the entire pack, including all of the white pills as your doctor instructed, even though you already started menstruating. It is normal for things to be a little off for the first t...
I have been taking sprintec for three years, and mono linyah for one month and then quit it all. Now my period is late for three weeks. According to the home pregnancy test I am not pregnant. Is that a side effect of taking birth control for a long time for the period to be late? ## To my understanding, Sprintec (and most oral contraceptives for that matter) can cause irregular and/or missed periods as a general side effect; due to fluctuations in your hormone levels. So I don't think it's anything to be overly concerned about. Especially if you recently stopped taking it in an abrupt manner after 3 years. It may just take some time before your hormones begin to level out. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Sprintec Details I hope this info helps!
My Dr. prescribed tri sprintec and told me to start taking the placebo on the first day of my period this month. Do I continue taking all 7 placebos and then start a new pack. ## Based on my research, the dosing guidelines for Sprintec note the following: "When you start the birth control pill for the first time, you can do so either on the first day of your period or on the first Sunday after your period starts (even if you are still having your period). It is thought that starting on Sunday may decrease the chance that you will have your periods on the weekends, although this does not work for all women. If you start Sprintec on the first day of your period (a "day 1 start"), you do not need any backup contraception. If you choose a Sunday start, you need to use a backup m...
I have been taking the triaprintec pills now since I had my son 6 weeks after my pp visit, which about a bout 6 1/2 months ago, I had my regular period every month from the 7th-12th, and my period was due the 7th but I've not gotten it yet I've taken all my white pills and started the first row of blue in a new pack should I stop taking the new pack I started til I get my period because I took a pregnancy test and it was negative this happened once before so if I've not started by tomorrow I may call my obgyn ## This is a hormonal based contraceptive, so it may cause you to skip your cycle, once in awhile and it is really nothing to worry about. And no, you shouldn't stop taking them, that will stop your being protected from pregnancy. By all means, if you're concern...
I started taking my Sprintec on a Tuesday(for the first time), but it was the Tuesday after my period was over. I did not know how I was supposed to take this birthcontrol. I usually have a 28 day cycle but I am 2 days late. I am now going on my third white pill. Will the birthcontrol delay my period because of how I took it, will it affect my cycle now? Help! ## Relax, it is completely normal to have some irregularities when you are new to taking hormonal contraceptives. Now, the first question is, when you started it, did you use extra protection for the first 7 days? If you didn't and you were sexually active that first week, then you may be pregnant. If you don't start it on the first day of your period, then it takes 7 days to reach its full efficacy level in your body to p...
I have been taking Sprintec for a year now, and I was late scheduling my yearly check-up and there for cannot get anymore pills until I meet when my doctor several days from now. I was wondering how long it takes for the birth control to fully leave the system, and if I should stop having unprotected sex?
UpdatedSo I am going home next this friday through sunday but I am supposed to be on my period that weekend. I would like to not have this problem seeing as I am in a long distance relationship and barely get to see my boyfriend. I only have one blue pill left so I was wondering if I could just skip it and let myself have a period? Mine usually only three days. Also If I did this I would be able to start taking the blue pill on the Saturday that I am home and still with my boyfriend. Thanks for the advice:) ## Unless your doctor says that there is some medical reason why you shouldn't, you could just keep taking active pills and skip your cycle entirely this month. Many women do that, when taking oral contraceptives at times having their period would be inconvenient and there is really no ...
Ive been on Sprintec for over a year. I am still on the blue pills but last Friday (9 days ago) I started bleeding. I didnt have the symptoms of what usually happens with my period. Ive never missed a pill and have always started on the Wednsday in the white pills. I dont start the white pills until today. Should i contact my dr? ## Yes, it's always best to contact your doctor to be on the safe side, however, it is normal for your menstrual cycle to be unusual, when taking hormonal contraceptives, due to any type of changes that may affect your body, such as stress, insomnia, weight changes and etc. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've been on Sprintec 28 for 4 months now and my "periods" are so out of wack. This month I bled the whole first week of the month,...
Is Sprintec 28 a gluten free birth control pill ## Hi Theresa, The answer to your question is yes. I just came across a list Sprintec 28's inactive ingredients and did not find gluten to be mentioned anywhere. If you follow the link below, you'll see a description of this specific pill and its contents near the top of the page, for your own verification: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/archives/fdaDrugInfo.cfm?archiveid=45641 I hope this helps! ## David, according to the link you provided Sprintec 28 contains pregelatinized starch, which could be derived from gluten. celiacdisease.about.com/od/medicalguidelines/a/medications.htm It is best to contact the manufacturer before deciding to make a change in medicines. I am considering the NuvaRing because MOST if not ALL of my meds in ...
I started sprintec in October and my obgyn told me that as it regulates my period it should make it so that I shouldn't have my period on the weekends. How true is that for other people? Like for example my last period ended on Saturday but eventually I think it's supposed to end on Friday. Does it actually do this? Any stories? Thanks! ## I'm sorry, I am not sure why your doctor told you that, because there is no way to guarantee that will happen. There is a chance that taking an oral contraceptive will make your menstrual cycle lighter and shorter, but that's not something that happens to everyone that takes it and there's no way to make sure that's how it works for you. My doctor put me on Tri-Sprintec to help control/regulate my period and to also help stop my next months period because of vacation. Can I start taking the pills this Sunday in hopes that I don't start in a week and a half? Is it possible to through my period of this month? meaning if I start taking the pills on jan 13th would I possibly start my period on Feb 3rd which is exactly 4 weeks. Please help! I don't want to be on my period during our very expensive vacation. Thank you ## Yes, it is possible, though it can't be guaranteed, because you are new to taking hormonal contraceptives, so some breakthrough bleeding may still occur while your body is adjusting to the hormones. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. If you start when when you aren't menstruating, the...
I started taking Tri-Sprintec about 3 months ago. After the 3rd month I wasn't able to get to the pharmacy for almost a week or a week and a half in between packets so when I started the new packet it was very late in my cycle. Now I'm about to start the 3rd week of pills and this is the time I regularly have my period. I'm late by a day now (but my periods aren't normally regular to the day) but i was just wondering, since i started the packet so late, should I expect my period to come during the white pills? ## When you're taking hormonal oral contraceptives, such as this one, your period is actually induced by a withdrawal of the hormones, so you won't have one, until you start taking the inactive pills for a day or two. Many women actually use this as a way t...
So I have been taking sprintec for about six months and always started my period about two to three days after starting the week of my white pills. Well, I am on my second week of the blue pills and my period started. Should I be worried? ## Hi Mac, Based on my research, changes in your menstrual cycle can occur while taking Sprintec. If this side effect worsens or makes life more difficult for you, I would contact your healthcare provider and speak with him/her about taking a different form of this medication. I was on Tri Sprintec for ever! My doctor gave me Tri Nessa last month and today when i went to pick up my script it is Norgestimate Eth Estradiol Tab. Ive head this one makes girls gain weight more and breaks out their skin more. I called my doctor and the nurses said they are all the same just different names. it makes me nervous they are switching me and not being constant should i try this new one ? or make sure i get tri nessa back?!!? ## Hello, I've personally been through the same situation you have. I was on Seasonique for years and then the doctor switched me to a generic brand because my insurance would no longer cover "non generic" brands. Since then I had horrible breakouts and started experiencing a lot of anxiety/migraines. Those symptoms didn't occur overn...
I am currently taking Tri-Sprintec. I started my first round this past Tuesday. Today, a week and day later I started my period. My physiccian said it was fine to start the doese before the Sunday and 1st day rule. My question is now that I'm on my period do I keep taking the blue pills (I have 13 left) Or do I start taking the white pills? Thanks! ## You should continue taking the active pills (blue) just as you are and then take the inactive (white) exactly when you are supposed to take them at the end of the pack. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. Break through bleeding, such as starting at an odd time, can be normal when you are new to taking hormonal contraceptives, since your body has to get used to them. Are there any other questions?
Hi, I'm on my second pack of sprintec now and I had a couple periods during my first pack. So now I'm halfway through the second week of the second pack and haven't had my period yet. I've had sex but its always been protected. Is this okay to be late according to my tracker by a week?? ## Yes, it's actually completely normal when you are new to taking hormonal contraceptives and such irregularities can occur for the first 3 months. Learn more Sprintec details here. As long as you haven't missed any, or had unprotected sex, then there's really no need to worry. However, if it continues past the third month, it may be the wrong pill for you to take and you may need to talk to your doctor about trying a different one. Are there any other questions? ## Thank you...
Been on Sprintec for 2 weeks. Started having irregular heart beats. Dr said to stop taking them. Now I am having to have a series of tests on my heart. ## Have they also checked your blood pressure? These hormonal contraceptives can cause elevated blood pressure in some people that take them and that can cause the irregular heart beat. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. It's also possible that they are just too strong for you. Such irregularities are known to occur in women whose hormones are too high, or are fluctuating. What types of tests are they doing?
ive been taking this for 3 weeks and i think i was supposed to start my period today but idk if i am able to get it later in the white pills or no.. , ## Actually, you usually won't start on the very first one, when you start your period while taking birth control pills, it is due to a withdrawal of the hormones that are in the regular tablets, so your period usually won't occur until 24 hours or more, after you start the inactive tablets. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Ive been taking the pill for three months, I had sex for the first time and i haven't gotten my period yet. Should i be freaking out? I startd the placebo on sunday, and its now wensday night. we had sex the day after my period ended last month. He wore a condom most of the time Am i rightfully...
Since starting Tri-Sprintec, I have been taking the pill everyday close to the scheduled time. I've had no adverse reactions and my period as normal. Earlier this week, I had realized I missed a pill when I went to bed so I took it as soon as I woke up then took my regular pill as scheduled. Because I'm in the fire dept, I can't guarantee taking the pill everyday at the same time. However, my doctor said that because I'm on the combi pill, I don't have to take it at the EXACT same time everyday, just within 24 hours of the scheduled time. So this week, my timing has been a little wonky because of work. I have been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend and have not been having any issues as of yet. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex last night and through the c...
I am on Sprintec and have been for a while now? I have been taking it like I am suppose to. But, I have missed my period for a few months now and I have been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend for a while now. I am just wondering why my period has not came on yet? I have not yet taken a home pregnacy test because I don't think I am pregnant or have had any symptoms of pregnancy at all. I know everyone does not show signs right or have any signs of pregnancy. I have been losing and gaining weight so I am not sure why. Also I was wondering if i did get off of Sprintec an still have unprotected sex how long will it be before I can have a baby? Because, I know you have to be off of birth control for so long before you can have a baby. An I am in my 20s so I am old enough to have a...
