Does the antispasmodic drug Spasfon prevent or stop ovulation? If so, can it be used for menstrual pain?

Spasfon (Phloroglucinol/Trimethylphloroglucinol) is an antispasmodic drug marketed for use in the treatment of painful spasmodic manifestations stemming from the GI tract, biliary tract, bladder and uterus. It is also touted for use in treating painful menstruation.

However, there are no official statements from the manufacturer or within medical literature depicting its use in preventing or stopping ovulation altogether. In my understanding, this medication simply makes one's period easier to cope with due to being in less pain.

I hope this helps answer your question.
