Sotalol 120mg Teva Vs Sotalol 120mg Apotex

I have been taking Sotalol Teva for over 15 years and picked up a new prescription at Wal-Mart and received a different brand (Apotex). I called and the pharmacist said they were the same. My heart seems to disagree and is hopping around. Maybe like drinking coke for 15 yrs and then them throwing in a Pepsi. LOL. Is it my mind or what? My heart is giving me a "not in my head" reaction.

Hello Jack,

I hope that you are doing well.

After doing some research I found that both Sotalol pills have the same active Ingredient SOTALOL HYDROCHLORIDE 120mg but where the two pills differ is the listed inactive ingredients.

Teva reportedly contains these inactive ingredients:

- Starch, Corn
- Lactose Monohydrate
- Magnesium Stearate
- Povidone K30
- Fd&c Blue No. 2
- Indigotindisulfonate Sodium

Apotex reportedly contains these Inactive ingredients:

- Magnesium Stearate
- Cellulose, Microcrystalline

It is possible that the difference in inactive ingredients is causing you to react differently. I always advise that if you are concerned or unhappy with your medication please bring this up with your primary care physician as they have access to your medical records and can provide you with the most accurate advice for your particular situation.

I hope that this information helps
