Some Urgent Advice - Lyrica / Lexapro
UpdatedHello
Ive been on Lyrica apx 1.5 years with varied dose but most recently 750mg (375mg morning 375mg evening). My question also involces Lexapro 30mg AM. I take a myriad of other meds as well. Thursday 10th July I stopped taking my am dose of lyrica and my lexapro....there was a number of events that were taking place and I had forgotten a bunch of times and by that stage I was like bugger it I want off this crap I may as well stay off it now. The lexapro was going to be stopped cold turkey anyway next week. Regardless of reason or whether I was going to stop anyway the way I feel now is deathly.
I am moody, snappy very out of turn for me. I am like a zombie except I can feel pain so so so much pain, my eyes blur. I have vertigo, nausea and so on...
My GP is away till next week.
What id like to know is;
Should I bump Lyrica back up - by doing this will I reduce the crap I am feeling?
or
Do I just push through now that I am almost 2 weeks off am dosage.'
Also curious - does the wieght fall of with the reduction in lyrica?
I dont need to be told about weaning etc - I do actually know all that but sometimes even us smart ones have a F*** it moment to our own detriment.

Hello, Elle! How are you doing?
Anytime you abruptly stop a medication or lower the dosage, you'll not only experience withdrawal effects, but also rebound effects, that may be worse than what you started taking it to treat.
What did you end up doing, did you bump it back up or not? Have the symptoms eased up, at all?
Hi
I am just riding it out, I have started taking supplements to help with the process. They are working a treat. I feel much better, besides having the flu I am almost human again.
Taking:
Activated B complex
Ultramuscle eaze Night
RestoraCalm
I try to not read up much on symptms etc because I think a lot of what people may suffer is from psyching themselves out. I just remained calm, did what my body needed and got rest, took the supplements and rode the wave.
Im almost off all my meds now.
Hey there. I tried to wean down from my Lyrica from 2 pills at 100mg to only one a day because I was losing my prescription coverage. I started feeling "ill" after the first couple of days that I had weaned down. On the 6th day I was off the pills completely and felt horrible. For 4 days I went without the med and I felt like I needed to be in a bed or the hospital ASAP. I was so sick to my stomach, exhausted beyond belief, and could barely carry a laptop bag from my car to the conference room I had to go to. Going off this medicine causes major withdrawal issues. Im not sure how long it takes to feel better but it take another day after I started the medicine again to feel any better. I stabilized completely two days after that. If you choose to go off the medicine prepare to fell like hell for at least a week. I dont recommend it.
As for the weight gain, I also take Dextroamphetamine for my chronic fatigue and that helps me not gain as much weight. Before that I had gained 20 pounds and Im only 5'2". The best and healthy way to maintain your weight while taking Lyrica is to resist the cravings. I found that if I stuck to a healthy diet with the right portions my weight to sky rocket as it did when I just ate my normal diet. So I avoid a ton of carbs and snack food. Try doing a smoothie for breakfast and then eating lot of fruit and vegetables throughout the day. I found that if I didnt keep the less healthy food in the house and just kept healthy choices, it made me eat better. If its not there then I cant eat it. It wasnt easy but after a few weeks I felt a lot better than before. My skin even started to have that healthy glow that everyone is trying to get.
Good luck on getting through this. It sounds like you are on a good path.
