So Far So Good

I started taking Chantix last week. I have tried before over and over again to quit but to no prevail nothing seemed to work until now. From the moment I started taking Chantix it was almost like I didnt think about smoking for the 1st week I would have about 3 cig a day and going from a pack and half to two a day thats pretty darn good. I do have some side affects, I get naueous in the morning but I find if I drink a glass of water first it goes away quicker I also have weird dreams but not necessarially bad, and loss of appetite, I also seem to be calmer, which I think is a good thing. Everyone will react differently to every kind of medication, Im just happy that my side effects are not like some.

I took it for 3 weeks. It targets the area where you get the pleasure of smoking from. Only thing, it took away ALL pleasure from me going into the 3rd week and I felt like I finally knew how people feel who have lost all hope and want to DIE. And the vivid dreams in color {like an lsd trip} didn't help. I quickly stopped and felt no change until the 4th day and if I'd lived alone, I think I would have committed suicide. Really! Watch yourself with this and if you start to feel the slghtest change in your mental well being---STOP immediately!! There are many documented cases of chantix related suicides. Good luck

Hello, Brittney, I'm glad it's helping you, but nickyNub does have a point, there are warnings from the FDA about the way this medication can affect some people's mental health.

Its most common side effects may include nausea, insomnia, vivid dreams, gas, and constipation.

How are you doing, now? Have you experienced any other changes? Have you stayed off of cigarettes?
