Smz Tmp Sus 200 40 5 Given To A 2 Year Old (Top voted first)

My 2 year old was prescribed this medication yesterday he is to take 2 teaspoonsful twice a day I gave him his doses for yesterday and today I gave him one in the morning then I gave him his last dose before bed he fell asleep then shortly after woke up in a fog and his cheacks and arms were bright red and he was burning up and complaining that his stomach hurt.

I have a family with kidney reflux disease should she be on this medicine if she has no infection ? She is only two years old. She can't be potty trained yet.

Not to put your efforts in vein, but, in my honest opinion, this is a pretty dangerous drug to be giving to a 2 year old. There are many adults who cannot cope with the side effects of this medication, so I can only imagine how toddlers might react to it.

The following are just a few of the side effects associated with this medication:

upset stomach
vomiting
loss of appetite

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

skin rash
itching
sore throat
fever or chills
mouth sores
unusual bruising or bleeding
yellowing of the skin or eyes
paleness
joint aches

A safer approach from my own perspective, would be to consider herbal treatment options, like that of essential oils; as they are a lot less harsh on the body and don't come with any side effects if used properly. I hope this info helps!
