I found a pill at my friends house and it has a 8 with a line through it and a 5 on the other side with lines on each side of the five what is this?

I haven't been able to find anything that matches this in my searching, so far.

That makes me suspect that it may be something that's available over the counter.

Did you try asking your friend about it?

Does anyone recognize this tablet?

I believe that is Generic for 5mg of Adderall

It is adderall dextroamphet/ 5 mg. I think it is smallest dosage available.
