Sleep Issues And No More Temazepam (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been diagnosed with DSPS. Not sure if that is the correct diagnosis; Basically I can fall asleep just fine, at any hour. I can adjust my sleep schedule as needed, BUT when I did a sleep study the specialist noticed that my brain waves were significantly more active than they should have been in deep REM sleep. IE: The doctor told me "my brain was waking up" 5-6 times an hour, despite the fact that I was sleeping through the night and getting into deep REM.
I was prescribed Temazepam and that seemed to help a lot as i can FALL asleep i'm just not getting quality sleep because my brain wont stop. I have lost my insurance and my doctors want over $150 just to make an appointment to possibly even get my prescription renewed and i still have to cover the scrip cost on my own?? Does any one else have DSPS or know what might help me? Is there a cheaper way to get meds refilled than seeing a primary care or specialist out of pocket? My body is breaking down without sleep again. Please help.

Hello, Audry! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem you're having.
As to the prescription and seeing the doctor, no, there is no cheaper legal option in the U.S. for that.
Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome is more common in adolescents and usually includes an inability to fall asleep.
What you've described sounds more like REM onset latency, with REM disruption, but I am not a doctor.
However, if you do have DSPS or ROL, both can sometimes be helped by using over the counter Melatonin to help reset your internal sleep clock. There is no harm in trying it, as long as your doctor says it is safe for you to do so.
Does anyone else have any advice or ideas to add?
Thank you for your reply. I am still convinced that he misdiagnosed me. I will be sure to look into ROL. Melatonin was useless to me for some reason. So I purchased 5 MG quick release FUSED with an Extended time release to ensure that I at least get a few more hours of sleep. Now that the temazepam is out of my system I at least feel like I am getting some sleep, although it is not great. I will look into ROL and see if that matches my symptoms and description that the doctor gave me of my disorder and if there is anything else I can do. Thank you so much for your reply I greatly appreciate that you took the time out of your day to think about my situation and offer advice to the best of your knowledge. Seriously, It's more than any of my doctors will do. You're a terrific person. Stay well.
You're very welcome, I'm happy to be here and help, if I can.
You may find the magnesium will also help with sleep issues, if it's safe for you to take it. It's very well known to cause drowsiness and coupled with melatonin it has helped many people.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Vistaril taken at night time can be helpful in resetting your sleep cycle. also 5-htp (5-Hydroxytryptophan).
i have found both to be very helpful in the past.
this is what restoril is used for. if you find another option I would love to hear about it.
