sir--my angioplasty was done in 2006.i was prescribed atrovastatin 10 mg /day till date.when i complained about slight lethargy and tiredness ,the doctor prescribed SIMVASTATIN 10 mg./day.after reading its side effects ,is it adviseable to take the medicine?

The pill is pink or salmon colored with 9 S or if turn it around a S 6 marking on one side with no marking on opposite side of pill. ## Just got prescription . I believe it's simvastatin 40mg. I have Simvastatin 20mg PINK oval pills stamped with AZ21. All "Pill Identifiers" online show BROWN or LIGHT BROWN as the color for 20mg strength. Please help since I may have a 10mg or 40mg pill that is mislabeled ???? ! Thx ## Where did you get them? It's important to note that the color doesn't actually mean anything, it is entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer and they can change it at any time, if they wish. However, yes the listings cite this one as being a brown tablet and the images actually show it as being a very pale tan or beige color. Color is also a matter of perception, so what you're seeing as pink could be the same color I'm seeing in the identifier database images. Have you actually look at the images? I've been taking Simvastatin 40 mg for a year and my cholesterol in below normal for my age and weight (130). Can I quit taking it cold turkey or do I need to ease off of it gradually? The only side effect I've had is the joint pain and not much energy. ## Hi pete, Although Simvastatin can be cold-turkeyed, I would still urge you to let your doctor know before you stop taking it, since I have read a few reports of terrible leg cramping and cardiac problems a couple weeks after stopping it. Everyone reacts differently, so there's no telling whether or not you'd even be likely to experience such symptoms. But if you want to play it safe you can always taper down by taking a fraction of the dose over a period of a couple weeks or so. Has anyone else here had success in stop...

My Mother is 96 y.o. diagnosed of Chronic Stable Angina, of AODM at age 80 with essential hypertension. She has a recent episode of lung infection treated with decongestant and antibiotic. She is on multiple meds. such as Vastarel MR, Pritor Plus, Simvastatin, Neurobion, Minidiab. At such age could these meds. be cut down gradually to substitute with alternative therapy? Or which drug should be cut out of her med. arsenal? ## At her age and with such health conditions, it is best to consult her doctor and let him make any adjustments that may be necessary. The Vastarel, which contains Trimetazidine and the Pritor Plus, which contains Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, can both cause severe rebound effects, if they are stopped abruptly, which could put her life in danger. What is the difference in the action of Atorvastatin against simvastatin? ## I am taking a new blood pressure pill called "Amlodipine Besylate". On the dosage instructions, it says extra care may be needed in taking this with simvastatin....Is the same caution for Atorvastatin ?JCZCP ## The reaction is unique to just the Simvastatin if taken with the Amlodipine, it can increase the levels of it that are absorbed in your body, which could result in more severe side effects, or a potential overdose.
