I have been taking simvastatin 20MG for sometime now and it was a tan round shaped tablet. I just start a new bottle refill that is described as a brick red oval shaped tablet. Have changes been made to this medication or do I have the wrong pills?

Simvastatin is a generic medication, which is used to help lower cholesterol, and as a generic, it is manufactured by quite a few different companies. It is also normal for a pharmacy to switch their supplier, when they restock, if a different company is offering it cheaper. So, you probably do have the correct medication, just manufactured by a different company.
There are 20mg Simvastatin tablets that meet the description you provided, but what are the markings on the tablets? If you can post back with this information, then I can check for you, to make sure it is the correct drug and dosage.

Yes, I just found a very new listing for this, which means it hasn't been on the market very long, but the brick red tablet with an S5 on it is a Simvastatin tablet.
The only issue I am seeing is that you said you were on 20mgs and this one is listed as being a 40mg tablet, which would be twice the dosage you were taking. However, I can't say with any certainty, whether or not this may be an error in the drug listing or if your pharmacy made an error and have you the wrong dosage.
I can only suggest checking with them, to be on the safe side.

I found out that Simvaststin 20 mg labeled as S5 and oval shaped and brick red, comes from Avalon Phamaceuticals in India. I buy mine at CVS and after looking at their website (Avalon) they look OK to me. CVS would not buy from someone that was not heavily regulated and inspected, as the bad PR from a 'problem' is not something they would look forward to I should think.

The tablet I was originaly given was small & white. Now ,has changed to Pink(ish) & about 1/4ins.in diameter.I experiance EXTREME-leg muscle cramps each morning,as I begin to rise from bed. The marking is C.U. - Pharmacy lists strength @40 mg.

Her lastest refill is labeled as 20mg Simvastatin, oval brick red S 5 mfg by ACCORD H.
Is the dosage properly marked?

This tablet is 9m/m in diam.seen in plan, in section it is oval with flat ends. Marked CU Take at bedtime,? whatever that means!? took it late,-abt.22-30 last night,had severe cramp on rising this A.M. My mot"s with G.P. always showed low for cholestrol. My B.P always low (generally Ideal!) G.P.had only just halved the dosage

Jim, yes, you can see an earlier post from someone else that confirmed this as a 20mg tablet and our own prescription drug resources have been updated with corrected information that also lists this as a 20mg tablet.
Henry, how long have you been taking them? That type of muscle cramping can be normal side effects of this medication.
Have you consulted your doctor, yet? It may not be the right medication for you, or you may require a lower dosage.

I too take generic Simvastatin 20 mg, and my last refill was described as "brick red oval". The identifying marks on the pills are S5. Based on this thread, I believe this is a fairly new generic, 20 mg dose, which is not yet listed in some of the medication databases.
Regarding the extreme leg cramps, this is a symptom of myopathy which occurs in some people who take simvastatin. It is extremely serious. You should report this to your doctor *immediately*. You will almost certainly be told to stop taking it.

My dr changed me from 10 mg to. 20 in Jan, 2016. In feb I started itching & burning all over body. Could the increase in dose have caused that? I've had side effects with two other brands of statins. My pills are reddish with marking on one side, s5.
