Hello, GeoPhilly! How are you?
There really is no 'good' explanation, so to speak. It's just that the one company had them available for a cheaper price than the other company. That's just what happens, sometimes.
This is a generic medication, so it's made by several different companies and whichever one your pharmacy has depends on who was offering the cheapest price at the time they needed to restock their supply, so they can give you the cheapest price possible. Sometimes the price takes a jump, sometimes it drops. It's just supply and demand, the same with anything else on the retail market.
The CR and TR are both just abbreviations designating that it's a time released formulation.
Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, dry cough and hypotension.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Called the Optum Rx pharmacist today, she said the way the time release is dispersed in CD (continuous dose) is different than the way is released in TR (timed release) she said CD has a more uniform plateau in your system than the TR. She said both do have a 24 hour duration but the CD has a slightly "better plateau" , and that what you're paying for ! I SAID $300.00 difference for a slightly better plateau ?? That outrageous !
did you get my last reply,,,, where would my reply be found ?? Where would any future replies from you be posted ??
Thanks

It's possible for there to be some differences from one generic to another, but they do have to fall within a certain range in order to be approved by the FDA, so I just don't see that as being a legitimate explanation for that much of a price difference.
But this is just my opinion, I'm not a pharmaceutical manufacturer.
Have you tried checking prices with your local pharmacies?
