What are the side effects of Thyronorm 50mcg if a person takes an excess dose?

M 17yrs old.I have been suffering from hypothyroidism since the age of 12.i weigh only 47kgs.I'v been taking thyronorm 50mcg since the age of 13.Recently the doc shifted my dosage to 1tablet on weekdays & 2 on weekends.
Its 2 yrs m facing alot of skin rashes.Iv consulted 10docs,2 of wich were homopathic but all in wain.
the rashes are on my elbows n arms.theyr really painfull n ichy
I also feel giddy
please let me no so as to y this is happning n if its related 2 d medicine m taking.

My tsh is always under control around 3.5..3.7.recently i started taking thyronorm 50mcg of abott company...n my tsh levels hv come down to 1.96.earlier i used to take thyroxine 50 mcg of glaxo ..n d levls vr 3.5...3...7...
Can i now reduce my dosage as its come down to 1.96?
I get my tsh tested every 3 mnths..
N its under control..do i hv to see a doctor often even whn d tsh levels r normal?
Can i reduce d dosage on my own if my tsh levels r lower?

Bina,

mcg stands for microgram, it is smaller than a milligram (mg), it is only 1/1,000 of it, so just a fraction of it. It is also equal to 1/1,000,000 of a gram.

There are a few medications that are measured in micrograms, rather than milligrams, because they are very powerful and require only a very small amount to be effective.

i have hypothyroidism and i take thyronorm 50mcg.my height is short my t4 and t3 is abnormal .also i am under weight?????so will thyronorm affect ma growth and weight????????please reply..it will be ur most kindness

Taking too much can make the usual side effects more severe, it could make someone very sick and in a real excessive amount, it could cause death.


The normal side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, weight gain and insomnia.
