Side Effects Of Oxycontin

Can someone please tell me why I am having such bad reactions to OC (the usual itching, nausea and vomiting). I am vomiting 5-6 time a day, and find it extremely difficult to keep anything down, even water. I have been prescribed OC 80mg for severe disc protrusion, awaiting surgery, subsequent to a double discectomy and laminectomy (lumbar). I am aware that opioids can adversely affect people who are not tolerant, but for me, this is not the case. In the past I have had Diamorphine and Fentanyl 75 with no issues, not even withdrawal.
Can anyone throw any light on this for me. They are great for the pain, but I can no longer handle the side effects.

Hello, Mark! How are you?
Though you may not have had such a reaction in the past to other opiates, there is always a chance that you may experience more side effects from trying a different one.
The best thing to do would be to contact your doctor about it. They should be able to prescribe something to prevent the nausea, or a different medication entirely, that may not make you so ill. You don't necessarily have to take Oxycontin, at this time.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
In addition to this post, when I vomit from the meds, I often end up vomiting the pill which then has no effect on the pain. With respect to the nausea and vomiting, it has caused me to lose 5kg in 1 week, because I just can't eat. Even a sip of water ends up coming back, which is not good, because fluids are more important than food. At the moment, I have stopped taking the meds in order to get relief from the side effects. However, now I have to live with the pain again and I'm afraid to start taking the OC again. It's the lesser of two evils....but which one? PLEASE HELP!
