I need to know of any side effects that may occur while taking this medication.

I feel for you I have has a open hole on my back draining infection now for 12 mo I have gone to two different hospitals they can't figure it out I have a past history of getting infection in my hard ware 2 times but how on a regiment of 2 Bactrim a day which just keeps the wolfs off the door in times past I got so infected that I had seisures and had a pick line in this new doctor when I first wnt said the hardware had to come out yesterday it was a whole different story they just don't care when they Ck my blood count it is normal but also agree that the Bactrim causes false readings My back is swollen and throbbing all the time I just had 7 spinal surgeries

I had nerve decompression surgery for neuropathy in left foot. An incision on my left ankle was infected day after surgery. Surgeon put me on kflex for a week and infection spread up my leg. It was hot and super swollen with pain I haven't experienced in some time. My surgeon sent me to an infectious disease Doctor who put me on IV antibiotics Televancin. After two weeks it was almost gone with a swollen knot by my ankle. I as prescribed Bactrim DS for fourteen days. After 3 days the infection is gone thank goodness. Cellulitis was my diagnosis which really scared me considering it can kill you if not stopped! I won't have another surgery unless my life depends on it. Dr. Said I was infected from the hospital.

I cannot take most drugs, actually, but Bactrim is one I can tolerate and have no bad reactions or side effects. It does the job, and I am not even nauseated.

My daughter is 8 years old, she was pescribed and I gave her two doses of Bactrim, she broke out in a rash from head to toe that was painful and itchy, the rash looks simular to a heat rash but it is raised from the skin. she even had it in the roof of her mouth. the Dr. stld me that it is just a reaction to the medication, even though I told her that I am allergic to sulfa. She is now on omnicef and her rash is starting to go away.

I have been taking the generic of bactrim for five days yesterday.....stopped taking it per dr. Finally had to go in and he said it was probably a reaction to the meds. My eyes hurt and itch uncontrollably at times. A few hives but I get those occasionally so not sure if that's related. A rash on my back, but it's mild and don't really itch, headaches, neck stiffness and pain and severe chills and then usually a fever so I've been stead taking ibuprofen and Tylenol for that. But I just generally feel awful. How long will this last and is there anything I can do to speed up recovery? Thanks in advance.

Any antibiotic can give you a severe reaction if you are allergic to it. Sounds like you are allergic to it. A doctor wouldn't know this if you never had it before or had that problem with it before. Again ANY antibiotic he prescribes has the POTENTIAL for horrible side effects. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC OR SENSITIVE TO IT.

Some of these postings make me laugh. Any drug you take you will find a huge range of reactions from the public- many of them completely related to something other than the drug. Rashes can happen, and if you are allergic, as with any drug you take, you'll have to stop it.

I always have a script for Bactrim in my cabinet because I have lymphedema and need to have a powerful antibiotic on hand at all times in the case of a cellulitis flare up.
Bactrim is strong and I like it for that reason. 2 pills a day takes care of what 4 would otherwise do with a strong penicillin.
It does make my stomach feel a tiny bit blah, but so does penecillin and it's not blah enough NOT to take it.

Good reviews for me from doing what it's supposed to do, and the side effects are negligible.
