Side Effect Of Perindopril?

I have been taking 4mg Perindopril for a year.I am 68 and do not have any other medical issues. Blood pressure now stable at approx. 125/65. However I have a horrid rash around my nose which is steadily getting worse and resists any cream. This has been ongoing now for4 months and is now heading towards my cheek.
The other side effect has been a continual runny nose, and recently dizziness.
I am thinking of stopping Perindopril to see if my rash clears up and to monitor my blood pressure to see what happens. Should I stop completely or halve the dose for a time?

Hello, Peggy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having.

Suddenly stopping such a medication isn't safe, because it could cause dangerous rebound elevations to your blood pressure and heart rate.

Everything you've listed are possible side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience increased urination, abdominal pain and constipation.

However, the better solution would be to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. Then you could completely stop this one and just continue with the new one, which could eliminate the rebound dangers.
