Side Effects Of Xarelto--permanent?
(Newest replies first)
Updated
I was put on Xarelto 12 days ago, one 20mg pill per day for afib. Within 48 hours I started noticing lower back pain that's become progressively worse. Never having taken a blood thinner like this before, I'd like to know if anyone else has had this side effect with Xarelto, and if so, does it eventually go away as your body gets used to the medication? The last couple of days I can barely walk at times. If this is a permanent effect I can't stay on this med and function. I have no other side effects and wouldn't even know I was taking it otherwise. I do feel a lot better on it than not, which is why I hope this is temporary.

I would call your doctor. Blood thinners should not give you back pain. They need to find out if there is some internal bleeding somewhere. Don’t mess around with blood thinners. Have your had your INR checked recently to make sure you’re at the right level?
Hi. I was pressured into trying the new blood thinner Xarelto by my Dr. I was on it for 2 days and had issues right off; I had itching, lower back pain, a fat lower lip, just to name a few. This drug can make u loose ur hair, gain weight, itch, make ya sleepy and there are a bunch more. My Dr pulled me off right away and I was put back on Warfarin which I had been using since 2001 with no side effects at all with this drug and I can do what I want within reason. With the new blood thinners u bleed easier and it takes longer for it to stop. I had a paper cut when I was on Xarelto, I didn't think it was ever going to stop and it finally did but when I was on Warfarin it stopped right when I placed pressure on it for about a minute. I just think Xarelto is very very dangerous and shouldn't be on the market at all... Do some research and u will find it's in a major lawsuit.
Yes, it has been known to cause joint/muscle aches as side effects, according to FDA and user reports, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising.
