Side Effects Of Ramipril

I read and came to know that in some patients the use of Ramipril actually increases the blood pressure due to some specific action of kidney emissions (only a minority of the patients), as it is in my case. Can somebody clarify?

I have been on Rampril for 9 months & now my kidney function has gone down. Is this a known side effect of the medication?

Hi, I am a good deal late in reading this post. I had a severe increase in BP after taking these tablets from 140/90 to 220/110. It also caused angioedema in various parts of my body. Did your bp return to normal?

Is it at possible that Ramipril 10mg can cause foul smelling urine?? I have had this problem and wondered if it was the medication

I am 63 years old. I take Ramistar 5mg in the morning and2.5 mg in the night. My diastolic varies between 70 and 80, However it is systolic that causes the problem. It varies between 140 to 170. (gets increasing as the day progresses towards the night till the time of the second dose) Shall I change the medicine?

No, it actually causes the opposite effect, in a small percentage of patients that have some impairment to renal function, it can cause them to absorb too much of the medication and suffer from low blood pressure (hypotension).

In these cases, they have to use a much lower dosage and their BP must be regularly monitored to make sure it isn't dropping too low.

This is a common issue with most blood pressure medications.
