Side Effects Of Advair

Has anyone noticed weight gain or stained teeth due to Advair usage?

I was just logging on to find out if weight gain is a side effect of advair diskus. I started on advair a little over 2 years ago and since that time I have gained 30 lbs. My asthma doc says that inhaled meds do not cause weight gain. She says that my post-menapauasal status, combined with a less physically active job, are the cause of weight gain. I don't think I can take any more weght gain - please let me know about other people on advair whom are having this experience. If so, is there anything else I can do - are there any alternatives to the disc. The doc tells me if I do not use the disc I have a risk of develping firosis .So here are the choices - fat or breath, breath or fat - At this rate of weight gain I will weigh about 300 lbs, and if that happens I would rather not be breathing. Please give me the scoop - and let me know of any alternatives.

I have been on Advair for about 6 months and am noticing alot of weight gain and fluid retention. I seem to be hungry all the time and that in itself, is not me. I know that taking a steriod can make you gain weight,so I'd appreciate a response as soon as possible about my question. I have to say, that my lungs feel better from the advair but I don't understand why I have so much fluid retention now that it's cold where I live. Thank you for your time....Elsie Schmeckenbecher

I HAVE BEEN ON ADVAIR DISC FOR 3YRS AND HAVE GAINED 85LBS,ALSO I AM ALWAYS HUNGRY,THE DISC HELPS MY C.O.P.D BUT I AM READY TO COME OFF OF IT AND TRY SPIRIVA HANDIHALER I AM TOLD THIS IS NOT AN INHALED STERIOD, WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THIS MEDICINE WORKS. GAILB.

I have been on advair for about a year and I have not experience weight gain. It has really helped me to stay active with relieving my asthma. Maybe the weight gain is a combination of other factors?

There is a steroid in this medication and they are very well-known to cause weight gain with long-term use.

Does anyone else have experience using this medication?

I have been on Advair for almost 3 years and i have been taking at least 12 to 15 pounds per year...which now brings me to a 45 pounds extra weight as of today. I have never had a weight problem, in fact i have always kept pretty much the same weight since i was 30. I dont know what to do anymore, im on a constant diet and i have a physical job,rarely sitting down. I went from a size 6 to now a size 14 in les than 3 years... if anyone can help... please let me know

I've been taking Advair for about 8 years and have put on 50+ pounds. I know steroids can cause weight gain. The more I weight, the less likely I am to work out. Now I HAVE to get the weight off. I have also noticed swelling of my face and neck. I'm calling my doctor to switch my medications. There's also been news in the past two weeks about the fact that it is not reccomended for people to stay on Advair longterm. No one seems to want to talk about that. I'm hoping a new drug, which will help me manage my asthma, will decrease my appetite.
