What is the period of treatment of epilepsy? Is it curable? Please provide the side effects of epilex chrono-200 and also remedies.

I am taking epilex plaine for last 13years. Iam feeling depressed day by day. Please advise me what to do?Because somtimes I became much rude and misbehave with my kids.

There is no cure for Epilepsy, per se, but sometimes children tend to 'grow out of it', because their brains change as they age. Other people that suffer from it due to an injury, stress or some other mitigating circumstance may also recover as they heal and become less stressed. But otherwise, it's considered a lifelong issue that must be managed.

This medication contains the active ingredient Sodium Valproate and while it can help to prevent seizures, it does have an effect on brains chemicals and may cause the types of issues that your daughter is experiencing.

Have you talked to her doctor about it? There may be another medication available that she can try that won't cause these types of problems.

my daughter developed momentary seizures when she was 11 yrs. old and that time she was in class V. The seizure came while playing with kids. So we took it lightly may be due head reeling or so. Few years passed and in the year 2007 while in sleep in the mid-night the seizure triggered. We got panic. We were dumbfounded. The next day I took her to the Neurologist and he confirmed that it is epilepsy. The doctor prescribed EPILEX CHRONO-200 1x3times daily and Folvite 1 Tab in the night. Since 2007 she is continuing the drugs. At her Class-X (2010) during here annual exam. she discontinued her medication for quite long time (about 3/4 months) and it triggered again. Then the medicine was continued. Several rounds of ECG have been done and the doctor asked us to continue the medicines. Now my daughter is getting irritated for silly matters, behaves rudely with her mother, not amenable to discipline and most importantly lacking interest in reading/writing. Plz guide
