Side Effects Of Amox Pot Clav

My son is taking this to help get rid of his double ear infection. He doesn't seem to be bouncing back to his normal self as quickly. He is sleeping a lot more and his appetite is really low. Any suggestions?? He is on day 5to out of 10the days and is 20 months...

Hi Brooke,

Based on my research, "excessive tiredness & lack of energy" are listed as severe side effects of Amoxicillin, where it recommends contacting your doctor immediately. Loss of appetite however is a more common side effect that shouldn't involve too much concern in my opinion as long as he is open to eating or drinking something every now and then throughout the day.

With that said, it may be best to pay a visit to his doctor in order to confirm that he should continue taking the medication. If you want to help build his immune system and still fight the infection, I'd also make sure that fresh fruit and veggies are readily available to eat or juice.
