My findings state that there are potentially unsafe interactions between these two drugs. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of:
"Ask your doctor before using methotrexate and sulfamethoxazole. This can increase the methotrexate levels in your body. This can cause pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, mouth sores, nausea, vomiting, black or bloody stools, and urinating less than usual or not at all. If you take both medications together, tell your doctor if you have any of these symptoms. You may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely take both medications. Alternative antibiotic therapy, if available, is generally recommended. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor."

Contact your doctor if you experience fever, chills, sore throat, easy bruising or bleeding, dizziness, fatigue, sore mouth or tongue, and tingling in hands or feet. You may need a dose adjustment or special test if you take both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor."
Based on the info above I wouldn't recommend taking either of these together. Are there any other alternative medications you can switch to?
