Shortage Fee

Ive been using the same pharmacy for years. Since all this shortage stuff happened, they started charging 10.00 extra shortage fee for each pain medication. They usually have what I need, but its costing my 30.00 more a month to get my scripts refilled. That's taking advantage of a situation, and profiting from it. Is that legal?

Hello, Dave! How are you? Sorry about the issue that you're having.

I am no sure about whether it's legal or not, but I seriously question it. What are you getting filled and where are you getting it filled that there is such a shortage that they feel the need to charge a fee?

Technically, at this time, there is really no shortage of any pain medications, that I'm aware of… there are issues with some pharmacies on the east coast being able to restock their supply, but that's due to a distributor being shutdown, not an actual shortage. There's also a limit on how much they can order in, but that is also not an actual shortage.

Does anyone know more about this?
