Was given 7.5/325 hydrocodone acetaminoph. I have taken two tablets. Pain persists. May I take ibuprofen with diphenhydramine in combinations with hydrocodone?

Sorry to hear about your tooth abscess! Though, if something as strong as hydrocodone isn't helping with your pain, I'd have to wonder if the doctor made the right call on giving you pain meds instead of antibiotics for an infected tooth, since that's not necessarily something hydrocodone or any pain medication is supposed to help with.
In my opinion, antibiotics would probably help with the pain more so than anything else, because it's acting on the underlying cause of the pain and not just masking it, like hydrocodone does. With that said, it sounds like it would be a good idea to at least ask your doctor what antibiotic he/she would recommend taking if it really is a tooth abscess - which is clearly defined by the US National Library of Medicine as a "a collection of infected material caused a bacterial infection in the center of a tooth."
Why would a doctor attempt to treat an infection with something other than an antibiotic, I don't truly understand the logic behind that approach? But I've personally had success in the past using antibacterial agents such as clove oil, pure vanilla extract, and oregano oil for dental related infections, and am also interested in hearing if anyone else has some suggestions as well?
