Severe Joint And Bone Pain And Exhaustion On Xarelto (Top voted first)
UpdatedStarted Xarelto two days ago. The first day extreme fatigue and bone and joint pain. I don't think I can co tinue on this drug much longer. Going to call my doctor but just wanted to hear from anyone else that might be experiencing this. Does it get better or go away? Thanks in advance for any advice

Thanks for you input. After I posted this I have blood in my urine and had to stop xarelto and restart Pradaxa. It was really scary but the blood has now stopped after discontinuing it for 24 hrs. Was very scared I was bleeding internally. It's very frightening to deal with these Meds!!!
I had joint pain after starting on Xarelto, but it went away after a couple of months. I was told joint pain is a common side effect, but should eventually go away as your body adjusts to the medication. I would still talk to your doctor, though!
Hi Debbie,
Sorry to hear about your experience with Xarelto. I did look into possible side effects that this med could cause and saw pretty much all of the symptoms you mentioned at the National Institute of Health: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045374.
I think it's quite unfortunate that we as patients have to be guinea pigs for big pharma, trying out products which carry risk factors that may be more dangerous than the original illness they're designed to treat. Makes me wonder if doctors really have our best interest in mind by advocating for this stuff...
At any rate, I hope the Pradaxa has been working out well for you since switching over. Please keep us posted if you run into any other complications, god forbid. *Knocking on wood*.
Wow! That was fast 2 days! I've been on it for months and I am in agony! I want off too!!
I’m going to the Doctor tomorrow to sort out this breathing business. I was ok with my breathing apart for the very hot weather we had this past summer. My CT scan was clear last Friday so my GP said I could come off Xarelto. It’s only 4 days since transferring to 100mg low aspirin. I would like to know why I'm experiencing difficulty breathing just like I was when diagnosed with PE 6 months ago? Since the clots are gone why do I feel like this? I feel I’m breathing too hard. I also get a rapid pulse, but only for a short while.
Can coming off Xarelto cause these effects? My aches and pains are better. It just worries me that I might have to go back on them as I’m trying to get off them. You would think the breathing would have gotten better too. Is 4 days too early to expect normality?
I just started Xaralto just been on 6 days for dvt that suddenly disappeared after one week. Blood, X-rays, cat scans all normal. hoping I can just stop it after 6 days. Can't stand the side effects.
