Severe Concearns With Op Oxycontin Compared To Old Oc 80mg
UpdatedI was diagnosed with bone cancer several years ago and prior to during and after surgery I was prescribed oc 80mg. Which most of the time worked to relieve my pain. After being blessed (or not now) and survived they changed to the op. understand why but in all honestly it ruined my pain managment. By not helping as well and I believe causing other problems as well. It doesn't cover my pain doesn't last as long and if I miss one dose I get very ill. Please purdue pharma do the right thing and help those that use it properly and that were lucky to survive go back to oc's or bring back 160's. Imbegging you do the right thing. We get treated bad enough from the stigma of oxy atleast give it to those who take and need the medication as prescribed. Sincerely. In constant pain ever since the change. I have also been told that the new coating has caused my Gi blockage and other issues. If nothing is done and not advised of alternate options will consider seeking legal advice.

I am very sorry that you are suffering, there have been many posts very similar in nature to yours.
However, this site is not affiliate with Purdue Pharma in any way and they will not see this post about your issues. The best thing you can do is to file your complaints with the U.S. FDA by calling them at 888-INFO-FDA (888-463-6332)

Have you tried any other medications?
Are they makng Oxtcontin in any mg of the old OC formula? Do any of the pills have OC on them? VA Thanks a bunch!!
I am not sure if this is the correct place to write this but I am going to try. I would like to form some sort of huge collaboration to try to fight getting back the old oxycontin formula available to the hundred of thousands of people like myself with chronic pain fight the FDA. Like maybe bombarding them with phone calls beginning January 1st at 1-888-463-6332 or 1-888-info-FDA. I am not a drug addict. I am just someone with chronic pain, who was doing well taking oxycontin er for many years until that one month I noticed that the medication was not working and on top of everything I was getting stomach aches every day, I even went back to the pharmacy to make sure I had the correct medication where I was told that the medication was changed and since then I have had little quality of life .i am not a drug seeker I am a 52 year old wife and mother that can not go on much longer like this. At 40 I was diagnosed with a hereditary disease that has caused me to have two transplants and am now on dialysis 3x a week and just for fun I have severe neuropathy, fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome and most recently more extensive nerve damage and long term pain from getting Shingles. Before the medication was changed I was a much different person, I actually could do many things and had energy, now I spend most days in bed. I hate relying on help. Before the medication change I never thought of suicide, or purchasing an illegal drug even if I knew how or stopping dialysis where I would last about two weeks. I get so angry, I am glad that the FDA is concerned with drug abuse but what about the hundred of thousands of us with chronic pain. they think this is going to work. I am not so sure, they will always find a way to abuse drugs, in maybe worse ways. I also think they cloud be creating people like myself seeking illegal drugs thus creating addicts. I would like to find a way of having our voices heard whether it be phone calls to the FDA or writing them or forming a petition list This is a last ditch effort I can think of any other ideas would be great, I would like to make 2016 the year my voice is heard and to take my life back!!
Caggor they have done this to ALL extended release opiates and the instant release opiates too. We're the new victims in the failed war on drugs... I personally don't know of any long term chronic pain sufferer whose not suffering alot more these days because of the government in bed with big pharma to create narcotic analgesics that can't be abused as easily or at all. The end result is medications that barely work or not at all. Don't worry though, nobody cares and if you complain you must be a drug seeker...
Cheers to all said. I will gladly call after the first. I am so sorry for what you're going through. As I was reading your post, I could see my life in so many ways. I too suffer chronic pain, going on 10 years now. As the DEA or FDA or whatever these i*****s are have started to play god with our meds, my quality of life, as well as others, has suffered gravely. I too, never considered such drastic measures as suicide, etc., laying in bed day after day, I get so frustrated, anxious, depressed, etc. I am no addict, did not take these drugs willingly at first. Only agreed to the whole pain management deal when I realized my life had come to a screeching halt because of chronic pain, my dad was dying at the time & my beautiful dog of 14 years. I needed to be there for them so I consented on the PM thing. Now my body is addicted & the DEA has "ruled" that all patients must be on a 120 morphine conversion a month. This is insane. I've had 11 surgeries on my right shoulder & other medical problems, one size does not fit all. I will help.
I see this post is four years old but have you MS Contin 200's? They are formulated much more like the old oc's and were recommended by my doctor. The change was great, most of the gi issues were absolved, and it's very cheap compared to the oc's. Another option only if you have insurance or $2,000/month for meds would be Exalgo 24hr release hydromorphone. Remember the 30mg roxicodone is still the same, you may want to try those with a lighter long acting med.
My pharmacy told me there should be a cheaper generic exalgo out soon, but currently, very expensive. I take dilaudid 8 four times daily and ms contin twice daily. Dilaudid is relatively inexpensive so the er shouldn't be expensive either, it's the pharmaceutical companies making all the money. Big profits...
Ask your doctor to switch you to 40mg of opana they are if not better than the original 80mg of oxycontin. Opana are oxymoraphone. What ever ingredient they took out of the original 80mg oxycontin are in the opana'so. 40mg is the highest level of opana but it's just like a real 80 oc. Good luck & God bless
