Serious, Unusual Side Effects?
UpdatedAre they from Lyrica? I started taking Lyrica as a last resort to make bearable my 7/24/365 chronic migraines, and it really does the trick. However, I started limping, as my gait became impaired. I have head and hand tremors, significant recall/ memory issues, deep fatigue, muscle weakness, and now neuropathy in my hands and feet. I also has low grade nausea frequently. Of course, there's the 20 pounds extra too. I have been seeking medical help for individual symptoms, and there have been no answers. Now I realize it is the Lyrica. I am between a rock and a hard place. Either way, either from the Lyrica or the migraines, I am dysfunctional ...I cannot accept this. Any suggestions?

Hello, Law! How are you?
Yes, those may be side effects from the Lyrica, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain.
You may want to speak to your doctor about trying Gabapentin, it is a similar medication that risks causing the same side effects, but you may not experience so many with it. Sometimes one medications works better for someone than another.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Yes, I also have horrible weight gain, dry mouth, and other issues, all I believe, are from Lyrica.
Someone suggested marijuana tablets for the migraines. Has anyone tried this?
Hello there September 2015! With regard to your Migraines 24/7 please read Dr. Josh Turkett's "The Migraine Miracle Cure." Also, check with your neurologist about taking one dose, 400 mg of Vitamin B2 daily. Ask about Inderal aka Propranolol as well. Plus be sure to drink lots of water; it does make a difference. Nausea has been plaguing me as well. I take either Zofran or Benydrl for it, when I can't stand up or function because of dizziness and nausea both side effects of Lyrica and of Migraines. It is important that you have a doctor who listens to you as well as one who knows about the medicines that are prescribed.
Lyrica and weight gain is a huge disadvantage. I gained 40 lbs in 5 months!! I still have it 2 years later. My diet did ot change. Nor did my hunger. If anything, hunger was reduced. I believe it to be related to metabolism. I do exercise in form of walk. However, Lyrica does help relieve most of my chronic skeletal pain. Unfortunately, I've had to pay for that benefit by accepting many of its side-effects. Pain is a cruel master. I never thought of deriving a possible migraine benefit from the Lyrica, though. Thanks for mentioning it. In closing, I wish you good fortune in finding your way to better health and bodily comfort.
