Seems To Have Stopped Working. Could It Be Heat Or Cutting?
UpdatedI've been taking Saphris and it's been significantly helpful, but lately it seems like it's stopped working, for the most part. Side effects that last for a few hours after taking (appetite, sleepiness) still happen, but other effects (constipation, twitching) have become very minor if not gone. The tongue numbness associated with taking it has largely stopped too. Of course, most importantly, the beneficial effect seems to have died out. I feel like I did before I started taking it. I'm trying to figure out why. I split 10mg tablets into halves for a dose at night, and then use a 2.5mg in the morning. They're split fine, but could that, for some reason, compromise their effectiveness? Will they rapidly lose effectiveness outside their blister pack? Some of them I carried home in my pocket walking on a hot day (90ish degrees). Can 30-40ish minutes of that heat exposure compromise them? Those warnings to not split or store at temperature are on everything and I assume just meant "cannot guarantee" effectiveness rather than "will destroy drug.". What's odd is, the splitting and the heat exposure did not both happen to the same tablets. Does anyone know any other possible reason that the drug would be inactive or wouldn't be absorbed properly? I've been trying to question everything from whether I drink soda or water that day to how long it's been since I brushed my teeth to when/what I ate last. Does anyone have any ideas?

It is normal for the effects you feel from a medication to go away, after awhile, once your body gets used to it, according to NIH warnings. You may not feel the same side effects, and you may not feel that it is working, due to such issues.
Why did you remove them from the packaging? It is always best to store them in the original packaging.
Generally, heat exposure would require more time to degrade them.
Are you on any other medications?
