Seeking Alternate For Mylan Brand Of Td Fentanyl W/o Gel Pillow (Top voted first)

Updated

I cannot afford the Duragesic brand 75 µg/hr fentanyl patches that work great (my newer insurance only covers the generic brands), thus I use the generic Mylan brand. This presents three problems: 1) Even a Tagaderm patch over each Mylan patch won't prevent about 2 or 3 patches per month from uncoupling from my skin. 2) I kept a careful record of my pain level every four hours and whenever a new patch was applied day and night for 96 hrs. The data clearly show that no clinical amount of additional fentanyl leaves the Mylan patch after 36 hrs. This does not occur with the Durogesic patch. 3) I tried the Watson brand patch that has a gel-filled sac on it, and its performance was pathetic. The patches were very difficult to keep affixed and they provided significantly less pain relief than even the Mylan patches. Can you please tell me if the Abstral TD patches have a gel sac or if they are two dimensional like the Durogesic and Mylan patches. Many Thanks.

Hello,

I ran a couple googles searches and I'm not having any luck with finding information about an Abstral Transdermal patch. The only information I've found refers to Abstral (fentanyl sublingual) as an opioid pain medication tablet that dissolves under your tongue. From what I've read, Abstral is taken together with other non-fentanyl narcotic pain medicine that is used throughout the day. Does any of that information sound familiar to you?

On another note, since you're having so much trouble finding a pain patch that works for you, would you be open to trying any natural alternatives for your pain such as: medical cannabis, acupuncture, or essential oils? I've heard that those three natural alternatives can be quite beneficial to those dealing with pain. Here is a link to a site that gives information about specific oils that work well for pain: experience-essential-oils.com/essential-oils-for-pain.html

I'd love to hear back from you if you try any of these methods or benefit from them in any way, good luck to you and I hope this info helps!

Hi I have been on the fentanyl patch for seven years. I use 175 ug every 2 days . I used to get the duragesic patches but the insurance don't like it !! Now I use the Fentanyl patch made by "Watson" here in Texas , Walgreens carries it and it is just like the Duragesic. It has the gel in it and works a lot better than the mylan patch , at least for me . Hope this helps !

I ALSO USE THE MYLAN PATCH .I HAVE GRAVES DISEASE WHICH CAUSES ME TO SWEAT ALL THE TIME.UNFORTUNATELY THE PATCHES DON'T STAY PUT I Have to wear one either in my underwear so I can account for them.the bad issue, once they fall off/unstuck-they are useless YET TRY EXPLAINING THAT TO A DR.ALL THEY SEE IS A PERSON HUMPING THE SYSTEM WHICH IS WRONG.BE CAREFUL SOMETIME TEGADERM CAUSES BLOOD BLISTERS BEFORE THEY FALL OFF IF YOU SWEAT

I don't think Abstral is a patch . It is another form of fentanyl though . There is one other patch that I know of and it is made by Mallincroft Inc. It is like the Mylan patch too. I do not like the patches without the gel because the Fentanyl provided is chemically different than what is used in the gel patches . If watson didn't work for you then you may need to evaluate where you are putting them . I put them on my right and left sides . Or maybe you need a bigger patch .

Mallinkrdoft makes the patches that are flat and are just like mylan. I had the same issue with the gel filled patches. Just a little advice, if you fave to ever go off of the Fentanyl patch, I highly suggest a medical detox center. These are HORRIBLE to get off of. I wish you well.

I've been using Mylan for approx. 10 yrs, purchased at Rite Aid, who quit that brand. I now get them from CVS. I'm in San Diego.
