I started Contrave a little over two weeks ago. I'm on 1/1 schedule now. I usually take the first pill at or around 9AM and the second between 6PM and 8PM. Weight loss is noticeable. I've lost about 10 pounds in just two weeks. Appetite is gone. I have to almost force myself to eat. Entire daily diet has changed from chips, rice and Chinese food, sushi, chocolate, Cola, wine, etc to salad and fruit. Can't stomach chips and other snacks anymore, find them gross. Wine makes me throw up immediately. So far no side effects except pretty strong constipation. I find that taking both pills after eating prevents nausea because this is what I do and I have not experienced any. A boiled egg and half a microwaved frozen burrito work well, then I take the pill and go about my day. Lunch, at around 1PM, is always a salad with meat and cheese, lemon juice and garlic salt as dressing. Afternoon snack is green grapes. It's hard to eat dinner on Contrave so I usually have blueberries as an evening snack then take the second pill and go to bed. Weight coming off fairly fast. I'm very pleased with this prescription so far. I feel like food had me hostage before with a knife to my throat. All my money went to it and all my decisions were based around it. Contrave so far has finished this and I can make open-eyed decisions now about what I eat and when. VERY happy with this...
Oh yeah! The "Contrave Slump", LOL, I sure know that one! But it's so worth it. I've lost over 20 pounds now. Today I tried on dresses at the store... right off the rack without looking at the sizes... and ALL OF THEM FIT. I've never experienced this before, it made my whole day. Every single dress fit the way a dress is supposed to. It was... amazing...! Plus I took a selfie this evening... my face is gaunt now... and let me tell you it's like I suddenly stopped being invisible to men -- boy are they noticing me!
Hello, Kim! How are you?
Those can be normal side effects of this medication, you may also experience nausea, headache and anorexia.
Side effects are usually transient and go away once your body gets used to a medication, but it may take about 4 to 5 weeks.
How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?
I take mine as soon as I wake up in the morning and then around 7 pm. I end up being very productive and then tired right around 10pm.
Re: No more nom noms (# 2)
I just started this medication. I feel great and not really hungry. I am experiencing palpitations and only sleeping like 4 hours a night. I was going to stop the medication but I don’t want to give up so easily!! Does this dude effects wear off?
