Hi, I just got diagnosed this week with hypothyroidism. This is my second day of taking 25mcg of levothyroxine. I am expericing a decrease in appetite with little interest in food. Which is highly unusual for me. Is this normal to have such a quick reaction to the medication?

It's possible to have that happen, medications can affect everyone differently. Someone else may not experience any side effects, or they it may take weeks for them to manifest, while you may experience them right away. That's just the nature of adding such chemicals to the body.

This is often seen in people that are sensitive to a medication. It frequently happens to me if I have to switch or take a new one, too.

However, if it lingers for more than a few weeks, or gets to the point where you aren't eating at all, then you should be concerned and speak to your doctor.

Is there anything else I can help with?
