Scoliosis And Arthritis In Back

Updated December 18, 2015

I have curvature in my back and arthritis in my back and the only relief I have is oxycodone, I want to get off this but do not know what to try. Would Meloxicam or Tramadol be a good substitute? Please tell me of anything else I can try. Alleve or Tylenol does not do much and I'm in constant pain without Oxy.

Hello, Demi! How are you?

Neither of those medications are as strong as Oxycodone, plus the Tramadol is also a type of opiate that carries the same risk of being habit forming. It can also cause very similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

Why do you want to stop taking the Oxycodone? How long have you been on it and what dose do you take?
