Safe To Take Expired Cefdinir?

I have an abscessed tooth and can't get to the dentist until later in the week. I found some cefdinir in the cabinet that's 3 yrs old. Is it safe to take it?

It does not become dangerous, once expired, but the FDA does report that it may lose some efficacy, so there is a risk that it may not work as well as it did, when it was new, which could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

Has there been any change? Have you seen your dentist, yet?
