SMT TMP DS generic drug taken for cellulitis, lymph nodes on neck swollen, super painful. Have been on a generic for Keflex for 7 days prior to this new antibiotic. Have only taken 2 pills one at 4pm and midnight. At 2 am migraine hit & nauseousness will continue on because I have already missed days at work. Had quarter size cyst like thing by jaw originally, did hot compress & applied pressure after leaving alone first week maybe but skin was sore and reddish. Wish I had left it alone. Squeezed out clear liquid with minor blood, got redder and more inflamed...still think hydrogen peroxide was better than antibiotic ointment on it. Bandaged, it oozed some, after shower hurt bad, applied pressure, out came yellow infection....left open & now has scab....this has been a humbling experience. Sick of neck lymph swollen and painful. Note to self, be more careful cleaning skin & not squeezing anything on face! The whole ordeal has been over a month time so far. Took Tylenol 800 mg. But can't sleep due to stomach upset. Got gassy an hour after 2nd pill I took. Too hard to type with headache but desperate for relief of infection, want to get this nightmare over with SOON. Hope this gets the swollen lymph nodes in neck to reduce size. Uncomfortable chewing food, jaw aches, think that's all I can share. Probably too much info but if it helps even 1 person.

This contains 800mgs of Sulfamethoxazole and 160mgs of Trimethoprim, a generic for Bactrim. This is an antibiotic.

Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea and dizziness.

had diarrhea a headache and i was tired all day i dont know if it was the cut or this stuff that makes me want to be more careful in the future

I have taken Bactrim for Cellulitis as well and was better after about 8 hours as well. I've also taken it a couple other times. It did upset my stomach somewhat but as long as I eat a little something before I take it I'm ok. I don't recall a headache or any other side effects. I would definitely take it again.

This med was prescribed for my daughter by her Dr. yesterday, and since she has taken it, she has had a high fever, a severe headache, body aches and pains, and has been moaning, and sobbing. I have given her Motrin and Tylenol, around the clock and she has had no relief! I just goggled this medication and read everyone's posts! Thank you all, for your input. I will not give her these pills any longer, and I will bring her back to the Dr. in the morning!

we found out the reason for coughing up blood is that this med increases the coumadine therapy. His blood got to thin as no one was paying attention to this side effect and no one prewarned us of this possible side effect.

Please be careful in your negative response about this medicine and recommendation to others not to take it. I am currently taking this medicine for Staff, which many know can be life threatening. It is working great for me, and without any side affects whatsoever. There are not a whole lot of medicines that will fight some strains of Staff. I am allergic to Clyndamicin, so the other alternative was the Interpharm. Thank God it is working for me. Staff can be very deadly if not treated; I had no idea until I became very ill. For all who may read this response, if you do not know the dangers of Staff, please educate yourself.

Started taking this pill 3 days ago for cysts/boils was great at first then started having stomach pains, itching, pain shooting down my left arm. Don't really care for this medicine.

I've taken Smz/Tmp Ds 800-160 for a sinus infection for the past 7 days with 7 more days to go. Have constant headaches but assumed they are caused by sinus infection. Also anxious and can't sleep at all although I'm always tired. Used probiotics for upset stomach which helped.

I'm on this for a UTI - on my 2nd day - only side effects so far are feeling tired - and sometimes a little dizzy - I was instructed to drink 3 liters of water a day no more or my electrolytes will go out of balance (I'm also drinking Smart Water for my 3 liters because it has electrolytes in it) and yesterday I had a bit of a headache, I have general itchiness on my arms, legs, all over etc, but no rashes or anything like that, just kind of itchy. I am also taking probiotics (since I always do anyway - especially since I'm on antibiotics) so maybe they are what is helping reduce my side effects. Mostly - I am just fatigued, with the occasional (bearable) headache. My UTI symptoms (which was only abdominal pain to begin with) have ceased & otherwise I feel ok. I even did a little bit of exercise today (just some hand weights) and I still feel fine. I have 3 more days to go though - so we will see, I'm hoping for smooth sailing the rest of the way as well ;)

I have taken this medication for over 6 days for Cellulitis and it is the worse, I now have terrible headaches and stomach cramps that last for hours and I am always nauseated, it also had me constipated for days, I would never take this medication ever again

It is not BAD!!! Some people can't tolerate sulfa meds......... People taht aren't educated on medication side effects shouldn't tell other people how bad the med is and not to take it. Ignorance isn't always bliss!

I have been taking the med for 3 days now for a UTI and have had only 1 side effect. 2 totally sleepless nights. I have noticed that all the side effects everyone has spoken of are listed in the paperwork that comes with the med. One should NEVER take meds without knowing the possible side effects. I even go online and do additional research these days. May I suggest you all do the same also discuss all meds with your doctor before agreeing to take them. The Doctor works for you and you pay them for that! Make them earn their money. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that medical building used to be titled "______ Medical Science Building" and now they all seem to be named ______ Medical Arts Building. Whats up with that? Guess it's no longer a science. And that my friends falls ubder the catagory of "things that make ya wanna say HMMM".

Been on this drug for over 2 years put on it after i had a liver transplant. havent had any problems that i am aware of. i take 1 every mon,wed,fri morning is this safe. I had the transplant done at the cleveland clinnic been on it since sept 29th 2010

I just took my last pill of this prescription that I've taken every 12 hours for the last three weeks with no side effects other than being a little sleepier at times. But I am 77 years old, so I thought being sleepy was normal.

Dr. prescribed this med for a staph infection. Shortly after taking two pills had a severe migrane, chills, crusty eyes, loss of appitite and vomited twice. Did not/could not take anymore (vomitint/loss of appetite) and finally got over migraine a couple days later. Felt kinda bad before I took the dose so I tried one more pill and got a severe headache again. Guess this med is not for me either.

i was prescribed this medication 2 days ago. i took it at night and woke up with a rash on my private part and then it blistered and has been very itchy.i stoped taking the pills and now it has open sores on it and purple spots.i was taking it for 2 boils on my buttocks.i hope it will heal up.

Why would you ask for your money back? Do you think your doctor prescribed this medication knowing that you would have an adverse reaction to it? You call him/her, tell them you had a reaction and get prescribed something else. Everyone's body reacts to medications differently. That was the most rediculous comment I have read on here, unbelievable. You're not a customer you're a PATIENT. You can't return your healthcare treatment bc you're not happy.

And just an update to everyone else, I've been taking this long term antibiotic for acne for a year, haven't had a pimple since. No side effects or reactions for me. This was my last resort since Tetracycline was d/c, Doxycycline made me nauseous, and I'm allergic to PCN. My dermatologist tried to ween me off by cutting my dose in half and I started to see tiny bumps on my forehead, she increased my dose back. Obviously you can't be on long term antibiotics forever, and I have over active oil glands so my next step is Accutane which took me a long time to decide to try, which will probably be at the end of the year since you can't be in the sun on the medication.
